I've had thin hair since age 16. At age 21, I finally shaved for good. Been sly for about 2 years. The picture below was the last picture that I had with hair. Both my parents began to lose their hair at an early age. My paps still thinks he has hair but persists to sport a 'dry-look comb-over'  ::)

About 27 or 28....I noticed a pic of me with my head down, at the time I went with the gel and slicked back look....talk about thining, from that time on I kept it really short and then decided that it was time for it all to go at about 34...no regrets

Used to have the thickest Frank Vincent hair until my number was called. The school nurse, the woman who cut my hair, and my girlfriends all used to complement my thick locks. Then I remember getting a haircut before HS graduation and the lady commented how I was getting thin...by 21 I was complete horseshoe sly.  Spent 8 years hiding it and feeling like crap...got seborrheic dermatitis and couldnt even feel confident wearing a ballcap because the rash was mostly exposed down the back of my neck. I told myself if I could get rid of that s**t I'd make a commitment to being sly and working confidence up. Now I'm still working into my slyness trying to perfect the look but this place should help me get over the hump.
Call me whatever u want now cuz in 3 years you have to call me Doctor.

I started losing my hair at 29 :o. Think it is realy unfair at that age :(. U think u have dodged the bullet (actually never thought about balding before that) when u survive the 29+ years with a full head of hair, but then suddenly i struck. Will be off Propecia untill january 2010 because of a bet. Since i stopped taking it my hairloss picks up again. Actually P seems to be really working for me, even though i don't really like this drug in me. if hairloss keeps up like this i will be a bald guy before medics find a cure  :-[.

What does "fair" have to do with it?  You want to talk about unfair?  Someone I work with was just diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  Does that help put things into perspective for you?

Yeah, because 29 is way too old to be worried about one's appearance.   ::)

Just kidding, Ghost.  You're absolutely right.   O0

Hello folks,

I started losing hair when I was 19..but it didnt bother me then as it was not very noticeable. The hairline just started to recede a bit but the rest of my head was full of thick hair..

I first noticed the terrible recede when the barber pointed it out to me on 20th Oct 2006 around 9pm. Yes, I will never forget the date, time and place. It was a complete shocker, the hairline had really receded a lot, but the rest of the head was still OK.

Man..I came back home and took pictures of my head from all possible angles and started analysing it..I wanted to cry. All this while my eyes where seeing what I wanted to see and never really noticed the receding hairline. Partly because my frontal hair was long and covered it up. During my analysis I noticed the hair at the top was also thining and the skull being visible upon close analysis..this completely shocked me.I have suffered some emotional distress since then. I am 24 now.

Over the last 2-3 years I tried various ways of saving the hair. The exhaustive list is below:

1. Not rubbing my head forecfully after a head shower
2. Going to the barber once in 2-3 months
3. Growing the hair long and combing it forward
4. Applying coconut oil, aloe vera +almond oil and lots of other sh*t
5. 5% minoxidil for 6 months
6. Looking at the mirror whenever I got a chance to make sure the hair is in place

But folks, its now May 2009 and the situation has become worse. I feel more sad as I wasted a lot of my time and energy brooding and crying over this and trying to save it. I just couldn't accept this and I am still fighting myself to accept it. I tried to open up to my family and friends but failed. My girl friend left me as she didnt llike bald men.

World was falling apart for me and it affected my performance in other areas of my life. It is the first time through this forum that I opened up so much and found so many like minded people. I have started to feel better. I thought all the sh*t is in this world is happening to me.

I am one step closer to going sly. I just got my buzz cut and even though I dont like at all, I am going to accept it. I have no other option. Some people have given me lots of negative remarks over the last last 24 hrs, but I am gulping it all down. I want to succeed and take control and I am not going to let my hair be a show stopper.

Do support me and I will try my best to support you folks in whatever way I can.
I will post pictures when the time is right and I am comfortable with my look.

Honestly, I still feel like sh*t but I am optimistic that good times will come.

Cheers!
Ryan

Hey privateryan.  trying to save something that cannot be saved is a waste of time and effort.
About the buss cut, please don't forget you will look much different with a shaved head.  You will be surprised!
One thing to remember is that losing hair is not the end of the world.   You will have to learn to live with something
that doesn't hurt you physically, is emotionally painful at times, but is indeed not so big of a problem when you
look at other forms of suffering in this life.   Cheers.

emotional pain can hurt 10X more than physical pain.
