I never really understood the appeal of Starbucks. Mediocre coffee at super-premium prices. I make better coffee at home.

Sly Bear you got that right. I see mostly women going in there it must be a show of how great you are while walking around a store or coming into work with a Starbucks cup. I have only had it once, but it sure wasn't worth the price . And not enough of it .
Status symbols don't have to be good they just have to be status symbols.

Maybe it's better if you pay for it with their new $450 steel gift card (limited edition, of course).
Have to look for a fancy free mug to drink it out of
I'm a fan of a news show here in the states called "Morning Joe" sponsored by Starbucks and their coffee and merchandise are all over the place.
Some mornings I feel like having coffee. The only problem is I have to take out my Diet Coke IV long enough to drink a cup of coffee, then resume the Diet Coke. lol. What can I say, I'm a health nut...

For me, just reverse the order. Never been a soda guy. It's coffee all the time, rain or shine.
Coffee first after the first pot , I may have to belch and a can of diet pepsi

Then back to coffee. I like it dark, strong, sometimes have some creamer in it for a change .
In case you've been hiding under a rock:
"Starbucks lovers who missed the chance to burn money last week on the company's limited-edition gift cards now can snag them on eBay - provided they're willing to shell out even more.
On Friday, the company offered 5,000 stainless steel gift cards for sale online that went for $450 each, but were loaded with just $400 in Starbucks credit. That $50 gap apparently didn't make much difference to many consumers -- the cards, offered through Gilt.com, sold out within six minutes.
Starbucks said the cards themselves cost "more than $50" to make, and noted that they include membership in Starbucks' "Rewards Gold" program -- access to special offers and free food and drinks after customers buy a certain amount.
The company said in a statement that it had no plans to produce any more of the cards, but by Monday, dozens were selling on eBay for hundreds of dollars more than face value. One was claimed Saturday after a winning bid of $1,074."
Hunh. That $1,074 would buy a lot of cups of coffee.
I love the aroma of coffee brewing. I've been known to make a cup just for the aroma and dump the liquid when it g gets cold.
Always fresh roasted beans. One maybe two cups a day is enough. To much upsets the stomach.

That's a little strange Zed.

Since the dawn of man, he has instinctively been drawn to shiny, pretty things. That's just how it is.

I agree... That's a waste of a perfectly good cup of coffee there, Zed.
