I agree...grinding those ol' beans does make a better cup of coffee.

Gonna also agree, cuz it's very true. It's akin to grinding your own spices before using them in a recipe: Tastes way better/fresher.  As for my arsenal, I use a cheapie electric Krups grinder, and a cheapie Mr. Coffee auto-drip brewer. Don't need 'nothin fancy here to make a good cup o' joe.
These mornings, I'm grinding and brewing San Franciso Bay - Pumpkin Spice. Deeeelicious! Got plenty to go through, cuz I bought a bunch on sale.

;) Would love the outside of your house.  This time of the year that sounds so good. Is it sweet ?

I'll disagree, Slynito. The actual optimal temperature for the water differs across different brewing methods.

For a French press, for example, 200ºF is best. Any hotter, and undesirable bitter components of the beans are leeched out into the brew.

Plus one, I don't think any coffee best at 212 degrees.  Take a test--find a really great cup of coffee--then put it in the microwave and zap it to a boil, then after it's cool enough to drink try it, you won't believe that it's the same coffee you put in the zapper!

Not at all, my good man. Sweetness level is determined by me (I HAVE THE POWERRRR!!).
It's just great coffee with a tasteful blend of pumpkin pie-style spices (nutmeg; clove, and the like). Just enough to make it taste really good, not too strong on those flavors.  Oh yes, it makes the house smell VERY good.  ;)

I made coffee all over the high country of CO and seldom could get something that tasted decent...the water never got hot enough. I had to use extra grounds and boil them for much longer. Gotta put some fire under that water, I'mma sayin'!

Loved using the French Press for years with fresh ground beans, great invention. But lately I've pulled out the old percolator from my camping gear and make it like Daddy used to. Makes the whole house smell like breakfast time.

Aunt Connie used an electric percolator. Man it made the house smell great in the morning.

We buy whole nutmeg in Atlanta. Then shave it fresh into the coffee.

That does sound super good.  With a piece of Pumkin Pie with whipped cream, or Ice Cream.  O0

I'm going to have to try that Zed, I'm a huge fan of freshly grated nutmeg, thanks for the idea!

Indeed I love grated nutmeg in coffee. Once had a Cuban g/f that put cinnamon and a lot of sugar in coffee...very good for a change.
