Hi all...

Hi.
I'm brand, spanking new to the Sly scene. I stumbled upon the website after shaving my head and having really bad razor burn. It's been 72 hours since I Chromed my Dome, and a lot of stuff has already changed in my life.
I received a horrible haircut on Monday afternoon (I'm in the Army, currently serving as an AH64D Apache instructor pilot.) So, this guy who didn't speak English so well, cut my hair so I had nothing but a "W" of hair on my forehead. That's it. Needless to say, I went home and clippered that right the hell off. Then, after looking in the mirror, I said "WTF, let's shave the head...". So I did.
Obviously, there were mixed reactions. First it was WTF, then it became "Hey, that's not bad". Then it was "The bald head looks kinda good...". Today, it became "That look becomes you..."
Now, it's only been 72 hours, and I have yet to really get the head in a "refined, tan, shiny state".
The bumps are getting better fast, but it still looks like I have a pasty, white head. How long before I start to see a good result? I'm starting to use Witch Hazel tonight when I shave it again (I've shaved it every night since Monday night). Should I give the head a rest or will it continue to adapt if I shave every night...
Any help would be appreciated. Love your work, and thanks for making this forum!

Welcome Matt. Keep at it. I just passed my 3 year anniversary of shaving and can't imagine going back. It will seem 2nd nature in no time at all.

hey matt: welcome 2 the sly fraternity. glad that ya joined us. check out the HEADSHAVING section of the forum: "your shave routine", "what razor you use", "shaving cream or gel". this section has many priceless tips on getting the ultimate head shave.
remember... here at the sly forum... we have an "unwritten" rule called the 30 day rule. the 30 day rule is when the new head shaver must keep shaving his dome everyday for 30 days. after the 30 days... the new head shaver will decide 2 keep their head smooth or grow it out. 99% of new head shavers decide 2 keep it smooth.
again... welcome 2 the sly fraternity. keep us posted 2 your road 2 slyness.

Congratulations Matt! Well done. The Witch Hazel will definitely help. Dab it on and let it dry. Then apply a little soothing after-shave balm as well. I use Nivea Sensitive After Shave Balm. This will help soothe away the irritation, bumps and any redness. Welcome to the SBGs!

Welcome, and a tip of the hat to the barber who unwittingly sent you to the world of Sly.
It will even out pretty soon in terms of color--don't forget sunscreen. Shaving balm, I like Nivea Extreme, will also make the dome feel great.
Shine on Brother.

Welcome aboard Matt! Just give it time, and the shine will come. Now that the weather is getting warmer, throw a little sunscreen on your melon, get out there and get some sun. That always helps tone down the "pasty" look, and will add a little shine. Plus, if you can get your hands on some, pick up some Headlube Glossy, by Headblade. It can be a little greasy, but it does add a nice shine to the dome. Enjoy the sly look!
