I use neither. I set up my grill to run on natural gas from the house supply. No worries about tanks to refill.
Now I need to run a gas line under the deck at our new house for the grill. We're having a father's day cookout this weekend.
If I liked my dad I'd have a cookout too, but use charcoal.

Timmj- I can't make Florida or LA- I'm stuck here on Maui until a quick CA trip to CA in July for 50th HS reunion, see new grand daughter and meet w/ Tyler in SJ. I grille

on coals when possible and do lotsa chicken---would you share your secret sauce with the guys?
If not, I understand.

I use propane. I'm too impatient for charcoal. Plus it's messy.

Charcoal always.
Grilling is like shaving my head. It is a process that can not be rushed.
