For those of us (ah, that would be me) who are extremely frugal - I've got a cell phone (not a smart phone) with 250 minutes/250 texts per month for a flat $12 including all taxes, surcharges, and whatnot.

So far I haven't felt the need to "upgrade" to a fancier and more capable arrangement. :-)

But now, with all the money I'm saving on haircuts ... Nah, still don't think so.

I had a Blackberry, and a couple of years ago got the HTC Desire.

It's been rubbish! Truly! It keeps freezing... the memory, despite having a huge memory card, keeps getting clogged up (it has a tiny minuscule memory) I can't wait for this contract to end!

So I'm now torn between going back to a Blackberry and this new Galaxy 3 thing out...  :)

I understand it's a bit late for a reply since you got your new phone but here's my $0.02:

Several years ago I invested in an IPhone and have updated to the most recent regularly (now have the IPhone 4Gs 32Gb). It is one of the best investments I have ever made.

There are the obvious benefits of web browsing and texting, phone use, etc- but my fav features are the camera and the media player. As a former frequent traveler, I have ONE device that serves the functions of several that I would otherwise have to carry separately.  I have pictures from all over the US, games, a notebook, alarm clock, world clock, radio, and most importantly, my mp3 player. I even have a portable DVD player that I have used dozens of times on flights and car rides cross country. And the best part is that this device fits into my pocket and is one of the most intuitive, user friendly media devices ever created.  Everything is at the touch of a button.  In fact, I'm using it now to compose this reply.

There is one major downside to Apple tech. It, for me, is hardware updating. I held off for a year, through the IPhone 4 and all it's updates because I learned my lesson earlier. Apple releases a product for 3-6 months and then offers several improvements within the year after that. Then they take a break for about a year and repeat the process.  If you are going to purchase any of their products, you have to do so at the right time or the co can really screw you out of some major $.

I have been having the same problem of late with the Desire myself. This is truly the only fault I have found with my desire, and I think that is because the designers just didn't predict that in a couple of years the shear size of some of the apps we would have on our phones. If only they made it so one could store apps completely on the memory card instead of on the tiny built in storage... Although now I am starting to see phones coming out with 30+gigs of storage. So I doubt that storage will be an issue with the new gen smartphones

I've been using a iPhone for four years, currently an iPhone 4. I've had many different mobile phones over the past 15 years and it's the only one I've ever liked. Reasons? The touch screen and it's got everything I need in one small easy to carry gadget (phone, computer and iPod.)

my iPhone 4S does absolutely everything i need.

Web browsing
Awesome camera
Awesome video
Push Email
Tapatalk forum app - so i can use SBG
Facebook/Twitter
Banking
Games
News

and a whole lot more!

Although, a friend of mine has just got the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it is amazing. It is better than the iPhone 4S, but then again the 4S is a year old and that is brand new. The iphone 5 is out in October (i think) and that will be a class above everything. It will be awesome.

I have a HTC Desire,  due to be replaced in October and it runs like a dream.   My iPhone using friends all have issues with freezing,  crashing, random reboots,  plus they all have to use Itunes.
I will be sticking with android and probably HTC because it runs like magic.

I have two androids at home. One for self. One for wife. We like the price better than iPad.

Way better.

And for the things that I do, it's all there.
