Yes they've always had it

I've been a US citizen since 1965 and a UK citizen since 1972, although I didnt get my first British passport until 1990. On this side of the planet, its safer/easier/less hassle to travel on a UK passport, and I only use my US passport once or twice a year, when I fly back to the US. The only way I'd lose my UK citizenship is if I were to take a job with the US government, and the same applies in reverse, or if I were to renounce my citizenship, obviously.
And to keep this on topic, I'm now about to shave my head
