I do understand that some people are so miserable with there life situation they like to inject their negative attitude towards anything others might enjoy. Hang in there mage...it'll get better.
I understand some people tend to think that however i was simply making my statement in my own way that there are other alternatives out there that don't involve yeast. Have your drnk if you wish but all things in moderation.

I've got an idea for you....Go start a thread "Alternatives to Beer". Once again this thread is for "Beer Lovers" which you obviously are not one. I'm not understanding why you would post in a thread on a topic that you don't like. There are threads on this site that go into topics that I feel are wrong. However, I don't go in there and tell the folks communicating in there that that I feel differently than they do. Why...for what...it doesn't do any good but to adgitate. I have the feeling that you would only do this on a cpu screen and not in society. I think you need to moderate the amount of time you spend in your parents basement playing Dungeon's and Dragon's! While you're doing that I'll be sipping on an ice cold beer or 3, bbqing some ribs and watching the football game this Sunday afternoon!

Actually, you insulted many of us by coming onto a board that we were talking about something we enjoy and decided to try to bring a negative tone to our discussion.  While you may not agree with our passion due to your history, it's best not to post in the topic when there is no harm being done.

Last night was the first night of Oktoberfest at Deutsches Haus, New Orleans.  Great selection of German beers, bottle and draught, offered.  My preference is for darker beers and in addition to the dunkels, last night they were offering two black beers, Kostrizer and Monchshof-schwarzbier.  The black beers are slightly less alcoholic than the dunkels, 4.8% for the black to 5.5% for the dunkels.  Great to try several different types.  Pretty good prices, $6 for 12oz or $18 for a pitcher.  Also came w/ good German food, all cooked on the premises by members of the Haus.  If you're in New Orleans for the weekend in October it's worth the price of admission$8, they have continuous live German band music.  There are also wines--dare I say that word :/O--schnapps, oh, oh, I'm going to get told off.  Seriously, if you get here or are in the vicinity--it's a great time, and it's family friendly the way only New Orleans can be.  And yes, there were a goodly number of fellow Sly's celebrating too. Drink your water straight!  And the joke, "lite" beer has just as much sodium as any dark beer--net result, water retention is the same after drinking either one!

It's not the water retention that matters, it's the caloric value.  I actually don't mind light beer.  It definitely has its place.  You can go out for an evening and drink quite a bit of it without feeling any ill effects the next morning.  Just a concession that I don't mind making most of the time.

I'm not a beer connoisseur.  Most of the time I'm happy with the mainstream American brands at which a lot of people turn up their noses.  I like most of the English and Irish beers and ales; the German ones not so much (with all due respect to our German brothers.   ;)  )

I found another seasonal brew at my neighborhood grocery store over the weekend. Hoptober, from our beer loving friends at the New Belgium Brewing Company. Three of them things and I was able to move right on past the Texans getting smashed by the Cowboys! I was still up at 3:45 this morning with no ill effects.

To be honest I've never had beer before, I've had liquor and I had a drink of an alcoholic energy drink before (this was back in high school). I've never been a big fan of drinking, it just makes me tired. My favorite drink has to be skyy vodka and fruit punch gatorade, which was the first ever alcoholic drink I've ever had. Dry gin is nice two, but. With that I'm a "supper" lol. The energy drink think was gross, I've had tons of different nonalcoholic energy drinks and have never had a problem with the taste, but add alcohol and its terrible.

My dad is an alcoholic and he used to drink beer a lot, so thats probably why drinking has never been appealing to me...  :-\

The seasonal beers continue to be released in my area. St. Arnold's Brewery put out there Christmas brew this month. I highly recommend trying it if you can find it.

BaldBradley- Alcohol and especially beer isn't for everybody. That ok though....we can still get along just fine.

My beer and I got a little too attached for a little too long. I LOVED my beer - especially Guiness, Harp, Heineken, Grolsch and a bunch of cheap domestics as well - Pap's Blue Ribbon, Lone Star, MGD. Sadly my drinking days are over. It was a good 15 year run, but now I haven't had a drink in over 3 months and am trying to keep it that way. Good things don't tend to happen to me or those around me when I've had a few.

You sure?

I would consider myself a mild social drinker, I only went to 5 parties through out my high school days (one was a 2 day party, that was pretty much nonstop) That party I realized that you shouldn't fall asleep first, I woke up with my face drawn on with permanent marker lol

I'm just not into the whole party scene, and I've never even stepped foot in a bar before. I would need to go with friends.

Good luck to you Jack with your battle. I myself use to get my drink on at a dangerous rate. It took me some work but I learned how to limit myself. Getting married and the added responsibilities that come along with that really helped me tone things down.
