Once again, CHeese seems to be one step ahead of me, and my alter ego:)
Though I knew two. One gave birth to me. The other one I married after moving 2,000 miles away from my mom, saying proudly how "over it" I was.
Freud sucks, man

In all seriousness, what made you ask the question? Who is freakishly controlling in your world?

Sorry; you asked how we deal with them.
First, for me, pertains to what role they have in my life. If they are merely in the outer circle, I step away.
if they are in the inner circle; I will choose from a range that includes: stepping away; tolerating for small periods; and speaking my mind directly.
If they are in my immediate career or familial circle, then details are really important as there is not a general approach that works all the time.
Would love to learn more.

I worked with one, too. you just gotta let them get on with it and walk away from them when you can. There's no curing a control-freak

WELL HELLO ? I like DMAN had one give birth to me and unfortunatly at my age 49 im still allowing it to happen !but momz 86, i have no brothers/sisters my dads passed 25 years ago (i think he secretly commited sucicide somehow to get away) and she was a very good teacher because i do the same thingz i despise in her ! YES i have control issues and ive ruined a few good relationships because i smothered them (NOT literally) i did most of it because i thought i

them but all it caused was

they thought i was

well i THINK ive learned the tell tale signs of it and really try to CONTROL MYSELF instead !

My wife's mother - limited interaction is how I deal with it. My wife gets that way every once in a while. I just put it down before it gets started. I don't do drama!
If the control freak doesn't have a direct impact on my life - I just ignore it

I deal with one in a work situation every day. I avoid contact as much as possible and only interact with this person when I absolutely have to. I just try to keep it all professional and stay detached.
