Going Bald While Sly

Tonight I was over at my buddy Dan's house. While there I had mentioned talking to another friend. So my friend Dan asked how my friend Tracy was doing. During that conversation, Dan kind of asked or assumed that Tracy was bald. I then mentioned that Tracy was receeding the last time I had seen him. Dan then mentioned that he was receeding. I told him that I didn't notice anything. At that point Dan noticed that not only was my front receeding but that he noticed the line that marks where my thinning begins and where my thicker shadow begins. This is the first time I had someone notice that I was balding while my head was already shaved. Has anyone ever had this hapen to them before?

Well, we've been meaning to tell you, Timmay ....

I haven't had anybody notice any changes in my hairline, but I've noticed them myself. It's always a little bit of a surprise, because you generally don't see the day-to-day changes when the hair is all shaved off.

Your hair is still there; it's just cut very, very short. The roots are still just beneath the skin. Rest assured, those hairs can still be lost.

shaving your head must slow it down then at least. it seems like it would. i dunno though.

Losing follicles has nothing to do with hair length.

Hair doesn't know how long (or short) it is.
I'd had people comment (or agree with me) that my hairline is receeding from seeing the shadow.

No, nobody has said anything like that and if they did I'd find it a little odd.

I definitely have noticed the line between the thinning areas, like the strip over the top between my ears, the shadow is there but disappears in bright light like sun or direct overhead lighting, unlike the toilet seat that never goes away. Early on I had two "spots" in front, now one is gone to the touch as well as to sight. The other, on the left side, is still there although it too is lighter than the sides and also disappears in bright sun.
It's all just a confirmation that I'm a bald man who shaves his head--definately easier to maintain and live with than a hairy toilet seat!

alright well good cuz im experiencing the same thing. i was hoping i wasnt the only one. i was starting to get nervous lol. people are so damn nosey if they can ACTUALLY notice a thinning hairline on a shaved head. that means they would have to be staring at you intensely which is a little creepy lol.

Not too many people comment on my balding shadow, but I know it's apparent. A guy at work recently commented, and said he didn't realize I was balding. The people that tend to notice are other sly guys or those who are concerned about losing hair. Either way, i love when people bring it up, because 9 times out of 10, I mention this forum.

To 90% of people bald is bald, whether it is BBC or full on MPB shadow. Not that many people notice. If I look back now at sly friends and acquantances I notice the shadow, but before I started to shave myself they were just bald to me. Very few people notice if I have a number 1 buzz / no guard / slick, because to them my hair is no longer a part of who i am.

In the case of my friend Dan noticing, I don't think it is creepy. He has known me since 6th grade. So he knows me pretty well. He remembers when I had a white man's 'fro in high school and a mullet in the late 80's and early 90's.
