I see alot of Bears fans on here, so i'm sure Butkus will get some votes, but i pick Lawrence Taylor. he changed the whole position. Him and Butkus are the best!

No brainer...LT. Ray Lewis was VERY good for much shorter period of time...I never saw Butkus play.
Dont even talk to me about Urlacher.

THE ORIGINAL LT... lawrence taylor #56. there R sooo many (never saw butkus) but i've heard from all who have seen butkus play that he was the best linebacker. however... since i've never seen butkus play it goes 2 LT.

Lambert wasn't that great.... he was just an animal.
I'd say LT also...... but Ray Lewis has been awfully good for a long time (although I do think he is a bit of a caricature of his old self now).
I also loved Butkus............. Urlacher is WAY over rated.

LT was undoubtedly iconic in that role.
Any votes for Romo? A brilliant player in his day, but apt to step over the line on occasion (as it seems a lot have been including LT)

I agree nomad! Jack only played 9 seasons and was selected to the Pro Bowl all 9 years and 4 Super Bowls. LT is one of the greats (13 years, 10 Pro Bowls, 2 Super Bowls) and changed the way the position is played but I got to go with Jack and his fangs.

Jack Lambert, changed games, heart and soul of those 4 super teams who had a few Hall of Farmers on that defense. I guess L.t. gets a little more hype because of New York but 4 LOMBARDIS 9 ALL PROS AND A LOT LESS TROUBLE THEN L.T. It would be a disservice to pick one for all of football but when Jack played he was the best at his position. Props to Dick Butkus, Ray Nit. Pack Tony Nobis Falcon there are many great players at that position it's a personnel preference.

If you rate this poll by the number of people they put on their backs and had to be carried off on a gurney, then Jack Lambert would be the winner, hands down.....I also vote for Dick butkus

Mike I went outside the box with my pick EVERYODY picks LT and Butkus but EVERYONE forget the undersized animal that was Jack Lambert. You can't argue his impact on the game.

I agree Nomad..... I didn't say I didn't like the way he played. He was a beast. I just don't think he did it long enough to be the best....besides... I hate the Steelers...
