Yep I have done this before, lucky for me it was my first ever car and it was pretty banged up you could slide the driver side window down with your hand so I it was super easy to unlock!
However this morning I spent an hour and a half looking for my car keys - turned the whole house upside down, I was starting to think Levi had grabbed them and hidden them only to find them in the ignition arghhhhhhhhhh, I wanted to give myself an upper cut!!!

I've done it way back in the 80's. My last 2 recent cars have "dummy doors" that won't lock unless you have a key on the outside. The door handle doesn't go into the locked position with the door open.

I've never locked myself out of my vehicle, but I've locked myself out of my house. Just happened last week. I was outside talking to my new cute lady neighbor.
After our conversation I accidentally closed the garage door.

No one else was home. The front security door just happened to be opened, but the screen door was locked. I had to push the screen in to unlatch the lock.
The next day my wife noticed that the screen was popping out of the door frame. She said "Rodger......

........what have you done."

I couldn't tell her that the cute neghbor lady caused my lock out and break in, so I made up another story about some bugs.

I've locked myself out of my big rig a few times. I've become an expert at slipping the lock with a coat hanger.
Funny one was this rookie driver I ran across in a rest area a few years ago. He had locked his keys in his rig. He was quite upset and it took him 3 hours to get his wife out of the truck.

I fall guilty to this about 20 minutes ago. We were at the park were our church was having a picnic to celebrate 140 years of the church. You guessed it...I left my keys sitting in the seat. Luckily I had my window cracked and a pick up that was parked next to me had this long rod sitting in the bed...so I stole it for a few seconds...stuck it thru the crack and pushed the unlock button on the remote on my keys....DING...opened right up! LOL

I have locked my self out a few times. There are things you learn in a missled youth that come in handy sometimes
