The stupidest, most idiotic thing, you've ever done in your life...

Hey guys, Fester was just wondering, what's the absolute, stupidest move you've ever made in your life?
I'll start...back when I was 34 years old (now 44) I took a police test here in Jersey. This was something that I really wanted BAD! It was a chief's test, not a civil service test. About six months prior to taking the physical, I started working out for about 2 1/2 hours each day, at night, after work...mostly lifting weights and running. I got in the best physical condition of my life. I placed fourth out of about two hundred young studs and took the test on a fractured ankle that I got from running too much (a stress fracture). I actually was hired and got one of the two patrolman jobs that was offered. Unfortunately, I never told the LT about a fatal accident that I was involved in when I was 17 years old. It came back on my backround check and they told me that they had to let me go.
They viewed this as an act of dishonesty and told me that they couldn't take a chance with me.
Back when this accident occurred, I got really effed up. I saw a psychiatrist for a couple of years, was on meds,
went for weekly counseling, and was generally speaking, a complete basket case. I got my life back in order, and to be honest, think about the accident rarely. Not mentioning it to the LT was not a thought-out decision. It just never came up. I told him that I smoked weed when I was younger...I told him that I injected myself with anabolic steroids when I was younger...but the accident never came into my head. Nevertheless, I got the boot. At the time, this ruined my life. Anyone else want to share?

Really dont know what to say there...Hope things are straightened out for you now.
Im sure tehre are plenty of stupid stuff we have all done in our lifetimes....some may not see them as stupid and others are probably wondering why they even associate their selves with me. One incident that I can remember is one time my wife called me from the road and said she hit a deer. At the time it was winter and she had our one and only child of about 15 months wiht her. She was bout 40 miles from home. Here it was night time and was worried about them sitting on the road at night alone...so i immediately jump up....thought i grabbed my keys and went out the door. Well as soon as I slammed the door shut i realized...i wasnt even dressed...all i had on were my undies and a tank top. So here i stand....middle of winter...on my deck....no keys....house is locked...so what do I do? I go to the neighbors house...he gives me a pair of sweats and a shirt and he drives me up to the accident site..ofr now on i always leave a key outiside of hour house somewhere.

Tim, that's called panic and completely understandable; well maybe no clothes might be stupid, but leaving the keys and locking the door is totally reasonable in my books.

I haven't told anyone yet, and I am not about to start now. Nope, not even my wife knows.

I've done some very stupid things in the past...VERY stupid. Though, I try to remember that we all make mistakes and this is an opportunity for us to learn from ourselves and move on, trying not to repeat history.
I do know how you feel. A guy I know made the crazy mistake of accepting some stolen stuff and happened to get caught at the exchange because some lady phoned in that people were swapping guns in a parking lot. These were not guns they were swapping, but the stuff was stolen. To this date he can barely get a job that pays over $15 an hour because every time someone does a credit check they find his felony theft on there.

I have done a ton of stupid things in my life. Many helped me become a better / smarter man... others were just stupid and held no lesson or example they were just points of remorse.
I actually ran with a pretty wild crowd as a young man and I actually am amazed I was the "smart" one alot of the time and that saved my arse. Many of those folks are dead, recovering, ill or were / are in jail.
Where I cant pinpoint one particular thing that was more amazingly stupid than all of the other stupid things I have done... I can think of many times my upbringing and personal focus kept me out of Jail, rehab or the grave.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might tend to incriminate me.

I'd like to decline on two circumstances, I may incriminate myself, and I can't pick out just one thing.

To quote ChallengeMe, "I haven't told anyone yet, and I am not about to start now."
Doesn't matter if you tell your best friend, or the wind. I will find the lips of someone else, its only a matter of time.
