But it will wear me out......i get tired too easily........LOL
That's the whole point, to wear you out and gradually increase your endurance.
I'm a reformed couch potato. I don't think there was ever anybody who hated to exercise more than I did. My weight was beginning to creep up and I knew it was only going to get worse as I got older. When you reach your mid-30s, that's about the time when you can really start falling apart if you don't start taking better care of yourself (not just you, TimmJ, all of us).
Like I said, I absolutely hated to exercise but I decided to work on getting myself in better shape about 3 1/2 years ago, and now it's rare that I don't get to the gym 5 times a week. And when I do miss the occasional day here and there, I really miss it and feel guilty. I never thought that I would feel that way! In the past, I was always looking for any excuse not to go to the gym.
The key is to do it in baby steps. Start gradually incorporating healthier foods into your diet, and gradually eliminating the unhealthy ones. Start exercising moderately once or twice a week, and gradually increase it. Doing it gradually is less intimidating. The changes aren't as abrupt, and it makes it easier for you to be successful.
Take a look at the article I posted a few days ago about the 95-year-old couple who work out in my gym. Those people are in better shape than a lot of people who are 10, 15, and 20 years younger than them, in no small part because they've worked on staying fit all their lives. This is what we all should be striving for.
If you're over 30, now is the time to start working on a healthier lifestyle. This is the stage of life where metabolisms start slowing down, aches and pains and other medical problems start setting in, and unhealthy habits that we got away with in our 20s start catching up with us. None of us can stop aging, but I firmly believe that a healthy diet and exercise can dramatically slow down the process.
Off my soapbox now ....
