Parents Reactions

All I can say is "ouch". In relation to my buzz cut, I havent gone sly
My Dad's comments, "hello convict" and "very butch". Not bad at all, didnt bother me.
Mums comments "you look like your balding"(my receeding hairline obviously), which was abit of a dumb comment as my dad is bald, my brother who is 2 years older is currently balding agressively, her dad was bald with a dodgy combover.
"I prefer you with hair"
"I can see your scalp", its a buzz cut of course you can because 1/ its so short 2/my hair is blonde 3/my hair is thinning just like my genes dictate.
I didnt reply to these as I was too tired after a weekend away boozing and kayaking.
My mates all seem to be supportive as they probably twigged that Im balding. Theyve all said it looks good, just abit strange at first as they werent used to it. Though one work mate said it didnt suit me as "my head was too round" which puzzled me as I thought that sly/buzzed looked best on round heads
What kind of reaction did you guys get off your parents when you went sly and/or buzzed?
BTW my parents are coming upto 60 and are kind of old fashioned even if they dont admit it

That's a pretty typical parental reaction. All I can say is, don't waver. Eventually they'll come around -- or at least shut up about it.

My parents hated it at first, made the usual "You look better with hair bit" but they don't make comments anymore. All I can say is that our parents are always going to think of us as their kids, regardless of age, and they are going to say what they BELIEVE is best for us. Hopefully, they will mellow with time when they realize how happy and confident it makes you. Just hang it there.

Don't worry about man as long as you are happy with it. My mom has always hated me shaving my head and I've been doing it for around 15 years now. Not totally sly but with clippers. I'm 30 and when I started going sly with it she kept telling me I needed to grow it back in so that I could show my "nice hair" that I have. Even though I've explained to her over a million times that my hair doesn't grow like it use to. My grandmother, who I live with, is the same way. She can't stand the shaved dome and always makes comments about me growing it in. Even though, once again, I tell her the same thing about how it doesn't grow good anymore. Just remember, unless you do most things for yourself you won't make yourself happy.

I had very positive reactions when I first buzzed my hair. Everyone said that I looked good. Hang in there!

My dad has always been really cool about me shaving my head. He picked on me about it a little at first but he just wouldn't be my dad if he didn't. He was over here a little while ago and he actually took home some of my Headslick samples that I've accumulated from my Headblade orders. He wants to try it on his face.

My mom called me a thug. I thought "alright!". Though I was dressed like a thug the day she saw me.

My parents reactions are not positive at all, their not supportive of my choice what's so ever..
but like I told them I'm 37 not 12 so .. no matter what you say or how many times. you'll need to
respect my choice. end of it.

We took a day trip this weekend, and my mom made a comment about me growing my hair back. (I was hanging my head out the van window at this time) I didn't have to say anything, and my wife responded to her with "I don't think we'll ever see his hair again"
That was the end of it.
Glad my wife has finally come to terms with the fact I'm SLY 4 LIFE
My dad doesn't care one way or the other. His hair is past his shoulders right now, he has also buzzed it down to a #2 all the way around. He just says as long as I'm happy he doesn't care.

My folks said I should grow it a bit as the trimmed (0) look doesn't look good. I gave them the "did i ask for your opinion?" look and they haven't mentioned it again.

Wasn't long after I shaved it totally.
*changes personal text to "
Feckin' stubborn little baldy eejit!"*

If my parents had anything to say, they've kept it to themselves. They have always had a kinda "live and let live" attitude, especially about such trivial things as hair. They are from the WWII era, when "crew cuts" were the norm for guys, so I guess it just fits their norms.
