Question about shaving
« on: May 10, 2012, 06:52:32 PM »
I am new to shaving my head, my hair grows fast, I shave it every morning but by the time I get off work my head is full of hair, is this normal or is there something I can do to slow it down

Welcome to the bald brotherhood. Yes it is normal for someone bald by choice to be experiencing hair growth by the end of the day.

kalbo is Bald by choice (bbc). So am I.

I would say that this is normal.  I shave daily unless I'm sick or really in a rush. Occasionally, if I want a very smooth head in the evening for a special event, I'll skip the morning shave and do it after work.  Sometimes two shaves in one day seems too much on the head, so I pick my time according to the daily schedule.

But I really like the first six hours after a shave.  Head is the smoothest. After that, I can feel the difference. Someone would have to look closely to see the difference. I still look bald, but I don't feel completely bald.

I have got the same problem. As far as I know there is nothing to slow it down. Only a laser treatment could help. But it is expensive and takes a lot of time.

Welcome to SBG! As the fellas have said, it's normal if BBC...like a 5 o'clock shadow in relation to a beard.

Cheers,

Yes, by the evening, it's quite normal to experience a sand paper feel on your head.

Everyone's hair grows at different rates. Yours is in a perfectly normal range. I'd bet there are plenty of dudes out there with even faster growth. Just roll with the flow and get a feel for how often you can shave without irritating your skin.

I'm BBC and my hair grows quickly as well. However, the longer I've shaved, the less I'm noticing the growth by the end of the day. If I do skip a day, the shave is especially close and smooth and seems to last longer. YMMV!

I shave daily in the mornings, buy the time I'm home from work there is definitely some stubble.

However the longer I've been shaving it seems to last longer.

Do you exfoliate first? This should expose more of the hair to cut and feel smoother for longer IMO

Rumpelstiltskin - I know how you feel mate, it's annoying how quick it grows back.

with me, it's the sides that grow back quick (above the ears and the back of the head) that outline returns about 30 mins later after a head shave.
