Over a terabyte of HD storage

Regarding computers "in the closet", I've been making an effort to get rid of them in recent years. I like to replace my computers every 3 years, so my old ones tended to stack up but never get used again.
Now, I get rid of computers that I replace. My friends and family have benefited greatly from this decision ....

atest W7 release.
How do you like it?
Well, it boots 7 seconds faster than Vista Ultimate 64bit, and 5 seconds faster than XP. Doesn't have any of the problems vista did, all my programs, games and development tools ran and installed flawlessly (Vista failed epically at this, x86 and x64 bit versions) lots of eye candy, although I really dislike the "ribbons" that's just my preference. My performance benchmarks scored much higher on W7, MUCH higher.
I would have to say that it is probably their best OS to date. But their launch price is probably going to keep a lot of people from buying it.

I am running the beta W7 on a VMWare virtual. It is blazing fast and the beta has been surprisingly stable.
I dislike the ribbons too, shdwwlk. My opinion on UI design is that less is better. The ribbons are too over-bearing.

24" Intel iMac. I got it two weeks before they changed to the aluminum cases. Of course I would have waited if I had known, but they didn't really change the guts too much.
I have a 17" iMac G5 in the closet. It's my backup machine. I've only used it once in the past two years.
I tend to get a new machine every three years, but maybe not this time. The 24" iMac is plenty fast. There's something about Macs that makes them seem to stay nice and fast for longer than PCs. My old iMac is about 5 years old and still runs great. My 5 year old PC at work is junk.

My "kitchen computer" is an 8-year-old G3 iMac that's still going strong.

same here. i have Ubuntu and W7 running on VirtualBox, and i like W7. havent had any issues with it. i hooked it up to our domain and we had an issue with networked printers, but i think it was more the print server than the actual W7 OS.
you guys better watch out, because in about a week, W7 will shut down every two hours!

I thought that it was good for a year? I am sure there are some crafty geeks out there with a fix for that
