What Kind of Home Computer(s) Do You Have?
« on: May 13, 2009, 08:45:12 PM »
We're a 3-computer family with the following:

   1) HP Pavilion Slimline Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz with 4 GB RAM and 750 GB Hard-drive.  24" HP LCD.  This is mine.

   2) Dell Laptop - 2 GB Ram, 200 GB HD, 2.0 GHz Intel chipset, 17". This one is hooked up to my home theater with wireless internet access for Netflix streaming  and access to a networked-attached Buffalo 1 TB drive for movies and music.

   3) HP Pavilion - 1.5 GB Ram, 300 GB HD, AMD processor (forgot the speed).  Dell 22" LCD. This is my daughter's.

What kind of gear do you guys have?

I have an AMD Sempron 3200+ (I think it's clocked at 1.8ghz).  1 gig of ddr1 memory (it's been a while since I've upgraded), 120 and 80 gig IDE harddrives and a Nvidia Gforce 9500GT.  It serves its purpose, we have it hooked up to the living room tv and use it as the media server.  I have the 120 gig partitioned in half which has windows XP home and Ubuntu (Linux).  I like Ubunto better because I can push stuff to the computer from my laptop w/ a simple ftp connection, but there is some stuff that won't run on firefox  (watching 24 on fox.com for one) and I need IE to watch it.

I also have a bunch of old computers.  Some PIII's and a P2.  Going to set up one of them w/ another Linux distro and make a webserver out of it or something.

Oh! and an SGI o2 from work (which runs IRIX, which is a UNIX type OS).
