Day shifts... Ug...
« on: April 15, 2009, 08:04:53 PM »
As many of you know, I hate working day shifts and switch pretty much all my shifts to nights.  Every so often I am stuck working a day shift for various things, be it to attend court or take some training.

It seems though that every time I work a day shift something bad happens to me.  Today and tomorrow again I'm on days for some training.

I got up at 5:30, got ready and drove into work for 8am.  It was going well, no traffic and it was going to be a nice day.  The training went well in the morning and I finished the afternoon like usual.  Nothing of any significance happened and it seemed as though it was going to be a nice uneventful day.

Things seemed to be going too well though and I was getting nervous for something bad to happen, but nothing did.  So I finish work at 8pm and get in my truck for the drive home.  I'm cruising along the highway listing to the Tragically Hip just relaxing after finally having a good day shift.  I get off the highway and turn onto the county road.  Just as I'm going down the overpass I put my foot down on the clutch, pop it in 3rd and.....     NOTHING!!!

So that's when it happened.  The bad thing that I thought I was going to avoid.  My clutch plate seized engaged so all I could do was roll in neutral.  It's a minor thing really and I'm not overly concerned cause it's easy enough to fix on my own.  I think though that I'm going to attempt to use this as grounds for not working any more day shifts for a VERY long time.
