FIRST CAR
« on: February 07, 2009, 07:07:38 PM »
What was your first car? Mine was a 73 Dodge Dart. My friends called it the cop car.

Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.

It was a 1984 Suzuki Swift in BRIGHT YELLOW. It had an electronic read out for all the dashboard instruments. I loved that car.

Mine was my dad's old 1968 Austin 1100 - sky blue in colour, and a real nice car.  Sadly, I was in an accident and righted it off about five years after passing my test.  The irony was that it had just become an 'antique' in car terms and some collector of Austin 1100's had not long before offered me £500 to take it off my hands.  As it stood it just had to be scrapped!! :'(

1965 Buick Special with a something-or-other Wildcat v-8 and a two-speed automatic.  It was in this car that I perfected the Jim Rockford reverse turn-around (I called it the "Y-reverse turn with a very short stem")  Very tough on the tranny, but oh, my, it was fun.  Of course, that was about 30 years ago!

Austin Sprite--the real thing w/ side curtains--no windows.  Drove that sucker until it died.  Great times, really great times in that car, once had five in it--top was down.  The dash on my Cooper Mini reminded me of it--one of the reasons I bought the car.

1973 Chevy Caprice, V8, 4 door sedan.
I called it the "green tank", and it could seat seven of us if need be.
