The only ones I knew are no longer part of my life
Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.

I know one at work and she is a supervisor but I juist ignore her and do what I know is right.

Once again, CHeese seems to be one step ahead of me, and my alter ego:)

Though I knew two. One gave birth to me. The other one I married after moving 2,000 miles away from my mom, saying proudly how "over it" I was.

Freud sucks, man :D

In all seriousness, what made you ask the question? Who is freakishly controlling in your world?

Sorry; you asked how we deal with them.

First, for me, pertains to what role they have in my life. If they are merely in the outer circle, I step away.

if they are in the inner circle; I will choose from a range that includes: stepping away; tolerating for small periods; and speaking my mind directly.

If they are in my immediate career or familial circle, then details are really important as there is not a general approach that works all the time.

Would love to learn more.

I worked with one, too.  you just gotta let them get on with it and walk away from them when you can.  There's no curing a control-freak :/O

My wife's mother - limited interaction is how I deal with it.  My wife gets that way every once in a while.  I just put it down before it gets started.  I don't do drama!

If the control freak doesn't have a direct impact on my life - I just ignore it

I deal with one in a work situation every day. I avoid contact as much as possible and only interact with this person when I absolutely have to. I just try to keep it all professional and stay detached.
