Welcome, Bostonbean. Ooh! The glare is killing me! (And that's a good thing.)
Thanks, guys, for the words of welcome.
Never been called a Masshole before!

Is that stuff nice. I am not a big fish fan (despite living in a fishing port).
Yeah, the chowder (or "chowdah" as they say in these parts) is good.
Two basic types: Manhatten (tomato based) and New England (cream based)
They only serve New England style around here.
Many recipes are available. There is a Chowder festival here each year at the plaza around City Hall. Many area restaurants have booths from which they serve small portions of the stuff so comparisons can easily be made. Recipes seem to vary greatly in amount of cream vs milk used.
Here is a recipe. I haven't made it but it has all the right ingredients. Give it a try:

Welcome to SBG's bean, good to have you with us. Plenty of good info and fun banter on here, as you found out.
As you can probably guess, I prefer the Manhattan clam chowduh, (said with NY accent) lol.
Enjoy the forum, and post up with more of your five years smooth experience.
Welcome beans, I myself am more of a New England chowder fan, bought in San Francisco's Fishermans Wharf, in a bread bowl! (Mmmmm Aliotos or Boudins!!!)
WELCOME!!
Good to have another MASSHOLE on here!!
I'm a proper Bostonian in exile in North Idaho, does that count? As of April, it will have been 12 years since we left Boston for this boring land. We do get back for 3 weeks every July. We stay in an extended stay place in Braintree, as it's the closest to family and friends <G>
