Its the Open at Turnberry and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Burns. Turnberry is 7 miles from me and birthplce of Burns is 25 miles. Do i need to plan a welcome for any of my SBG brothers?

Been there only once in my adult life and would love to bring my wife and son back to my homeland on the hills to meet the rest of the clan. If not this year, probably next.

I remember boarding the plane to go back to the states and having this very sad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Scotland is truly an amazing land. I never felt so peaceful and happy. It's the beauty of the land and all the folk. So welcoming and caring.

ya. ive been told by many different people i know all from different nationalities that the U.S. is overrated and they miss their homeland. i agree. people are taught that the U.S. is like heaven then when they get here they have fun at first but soon realize its not what it was caked up to be.

I'd love to go to Scotland. My ancestors immigrated from England and I have never been there either. I have been all over the Far East but never the UK or anywhere in Europe.   :(

I'd love revisit Scotland.  I did a quick tour in 1998 and hit the traditional tourist sites.  My mom's family is from Kilmarnock and my dad's Irish ancestors lived in Glasgow.

Man, I wish !!!  Have been to the Mecca of Golf in St. Andrews

My wife and I have talked about it, but no plans as of yet.  She has always wanted to go since her maiden name is Campbell.  My ancestors come from Ireland, explains my love for the bottle I guess!  LOL

It would be cool to come visit.

Does this mean you are actually going to be at Turnberry or you are watching on TV?
