Hey I seen this commerical early this morning on tv.  I know my wife probably thought I was nuts...because I was laughing so hard that early.  You have to understand the reason i find it so funny is that my wife makes quilts and many many times I have to run to the basement and fix the washing machine because of her washing them..LOL
Here it is

Tell you about my turkey....well, Timm is a pretty decent guy over all.    Ohhhhhh, THAT turkey.   If my folks host it, the turkey is always fresh about 28-29 pounds as it has to feed between 19-24 of us.  I am having Thanksgiving this year so it's a frozen one since there will only be 5 of us.

Don't know the details, but all I know is that turkey doesn't stand a chance.

We always try to get a fresh turkey, but if not available, frozen will do.

TimmJ, you asked for pointers...  We always use the oven bags.   It helps keep the meat from drying out, and the turkey browns nicely.  Clean and wash the bird inside and out real well.  Put half an onion (cut into wedges and separated into slices) and a few stalks of celery inside the bird while cooking to add flavor.  Rub garlic salt and pepper on the skin to add more flavor.  Cook your stuffing separately, not inside the bird.  We use a folding rack in the pan to keep the bird in position.  If you cook the turkey breast down (what most people would consider upside-down), the white meat will come out moist and juicy.

Enjoy.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the info bro.  I knew about cooking the turkey upside down to keep the breast meat moist.  I just wish someone would pound that thru my moms thick head.  LOL.  Everytime she puts it in right side up....but not this year, Im doing it upside down.

When we do a turkey at home I prefer to get one local if I remember to reserve it,, BUT  for a real treat the last two years we have spent Thanksgiving at Kalahari in Sandusky Oh. No cooking, no cleaning, no feeling guilty for not cleaning. They serve a buffet style dinner,, before you say yuk,,, believe me,, it is FANTASTIC!!!! Selection is great, food is as good as I have had ANYWHERE, and when you are done you walk,,  umm,, waddle away,, and return to the water park if you can. We spend three or four days there,, and spend about $1,000. Now, that is for room, four admissions to water park, everyday, Thanksgiving dinner, and also eating other meals while there.
They are building a new Kalahari in Fredricksburg VA so the drive will be MUCH shorter. If you are not familiar with Kalahari,, it is similar to Wolfslodge, but in speaking to those who have been to both, they prefer Kalahari. Sanduskys' is 120,000 sqft of INDOOR waterpark.

This year will be quieter,, going to visit family in Boston

Tom

Edit:  WOW, just went online,,, the Fredricksburg Kalahari will be a 200,000 sqft INDOOR waterpark :D :o O0 O:O

Sounds like someone is still a kid at heart.....cant wait to see how he reacts on Christmas Morning LOL

Sounds like fun bro...never been there.   Indianapolis has a hotel with an indoor water park.  I dont think it is as big as the one you are talking bout but looks like it could be a nice thing to do on a cold winters day.

I think I mentioned this before in another thread. We are having peacock. I managed to fatten 3 up real nice, I had them on double the protein that they normally get. I got the biggest one up to 21 lbs and the smallest was 17 lbs.
