For those of you who have tried the program, what are you using to do the pull-ups?

I thought about buying the suggested detachable pull-up bar, but am hesitant because I don't really trust that it won't crack my door frame.  (I'm a solid 210 at the moment)

Also, has anyone tried the bands in the seated position?  I just can't see those things being able to mimic 200+ lbs of resistance, regardless of how far back you stretch them, without breaking.

I have a pullup bar on my lat machine.  A friend of mine swears by the "iron gym" pull up bar and said it doesnt hurt his doorway.
I completed P90 a few months ago. I went from about 208 to 190. I definitely got more cut and had all but lost any bellyfat I had...
My flexibility increased and I would say I was in better overall condition. However...190 for my 6'3'' frame IMO is a little too thin.
So now I am working on just adding lean muscle thru some powerlifting.  I am doing the Bill Starr 5x5.   On my off days I do the P90 cardio routine a couple times a week and throw in the ab routine here and there.
Heres my current routine...

I've also had the problem being tall and light as a feather.  I'm 6'2" and was obese.  5 years ago I changed my diet and workout routine from a concentration in weight lifting to cardio.  I shed weight quickly and passed my 210lb goal, and then I kept moving the bar lower and lower because it actually became like a fun game seeing how low I could get my weight.  I stayed in the 180s for a couple years and then briefly tried to hit the 170s.  I did.

I was fit but looked like a twig with a bony face and rib marks.  I realized I needed to put on some weight so I let myself get back to 200lbs and have remained there.  Unfortunately the weight I've put on is not muscle.

One of the things I realized while losing weight is that I have no cheeks.  They actually sink inward to a small degree.  My face looked nice when I was obese, but when I lost weight I practically lost all of the fullness of my face.  Had I had cheeks, I'm sure I would have looked like a balloon while obese.  You're lucky because even though you are taller and lighter than me you still have shape to your face.  I wish I had my fat face and my current body!
You don't know me, but I know you.

yeah I hear ya bro...when I get lean my face gets thin too and Im not a fan of that.
Unfortunately the only way to gain weight in your face is to gain weight...which is ok if its muscle.

How do I add muscle to my face?  I'm already opinionated enough, I'd hate to have a powerful mouth to go along with it!   :*))

Hi CIC,
I have done the 90 days of p90x, but I have issues with the ab ripper x due to back history problems. Had to modify a few things throughout until I built up the back muscles. After a 3 week break I just started the 90 again 2 days ago on classic. Just from the break I am already sore again...so I guess I should have at least stretched during my rest....but I decided to party too hard  ::).
Anyway, for a pullup bar I used my soloflex that was collecting dust. I hear ya on the door frame issue, mine was I'm too tall, but as far as the bands, just starting out they would be fine. You don't really need to mimc 200 lbs, you just want to get resistance and good quality pullup type exercises. You can up the quantity as needed to work the muscles. Its more about working the muscles than trying to see how much weight they can stand. You can always use heavy weights for the different sets for bulking. Just listen for Tony to tell you what to do for bulk and size in the vids.
Hope this helps.

Rob: Thanks for the info and the e-mail webinar.  This sounds really really intense.  I just learned this afternoon that a friend has the dvd's for px90 and I may borrow them.  I will of course let you know.  Please keep me updated on your progress.  I also plan to check out the webinar if I am back in town next week.  Thanks.

Hey Sooner,
If you do borrow them do at least 30 days of the rountine. The first 3 weeks are the most intense and you will be sore. By week 4 you will know if you would want to shoot for the whole 90 days.

Thanks Champ007 for the input and suggestion.  I am seriously considering starting with P90.  I like to think I am in pretty good shape but it sounds like some on here have had a good experience starting there.  I will keep everyone updated.

go for it Steve. Dont be fooled into thinking P90 is easy...its not as hard as P90X but its still a heck of a workout.

That's good to hear.  I want something challenging and will show results.  It appears the P90 is the place to start for me.

I ordered P90 per DJ's suggestion. It should arrive in a couple of days. I'm excited to get back into shape.

good deal guys. Look forward to hearing about your progress....I  do P90 cardio and abs still (and the other routine I posted for weight lifting)but can definitely say P90 will trim you down and make you more flexible....and stronger in certain ways.
It will give you a lot of muscle ENDURANCE...
To get max effect I would also strongly consider purchasing a book called the abs diet by david zirilenko(sic) who is a editor at mens health.
Its good solid advice on food and not over the top at all. You actually wind up eating MORE food...just different food.

Did my first Sculpt exercise today and boy am I out of shape. Good thing i'm starting to do something again. It looks simple but it wore me out. Cardio and abs tomorrow, wish me luck!

Good deal Hookem. The sculpt I always found easier than the cardio one because of my weight lifting background. However there are things that are tough about it for sure......the 7-7-7 is a killer.
when I first did the cardio I could not keep pace with Tony...but it gets better...each time I did it I just kept doing a little more until cardio one was too easy...
