Sly Rodeo

• So is there any sly cowboys out there?  I'm a major rodeo fan and especially like bull riding.  Before getting married I had the chance to live and work on a horse and bull ranch for a while.  That was an awesome experience I'll never forget.  The one thing I hate is I never got on a bull while on the ranch because of my lame hair unit.  Now, after shaving my head, maybe I can go to a bull riding school like I have wanted to.  Funny thing is my wife does not mind if I do the bull riding school, but when I talked about boxing in a amateur fight night, she said I better not because boxing is too dangerous.  Ok so boxing another guy in my weight class is too dangerous but getting on a 1,300 lb bull is not.  My wife cracks me up sometimes.     Well she always said her dream was to marry a blue-eyed cowboy.

• I say go for it.  Take note all you fence sitters....look at the opportunities that open up when  you finally rid yourself of hair that you feel uncomfortable with.  JUST DO IT!

• i went to rodeo school a few years ago and do not regeret it. i would regret it if i had not gone. i say try it bro. good luck with that.

• Heck yeah man!  If you regret not riding that bull chances are you are just going to keep regretting it.  I say GO FOR IT!  You have the new dew that you say has boosted your confidence so use that to your advantage.  Especially if your wife is on board.  You can't go wrong.  Good luck and keep us posted.

   I used to be a rodeo junkie. My folks got me started in peewee rodeos when I was a little guy. I used to be a pro at riding steers and sheep, I have many buckles from it. The rodeo addiction started when I was about 7. It started with sheep then steers then when I became a teen I would go out and jump on a green horse and hang on. The addiction kept growing stronger and soon I was doing saddle bronc riding and did okay. Then I decided to try a bull. A friend bred rodeo bulls and let me 'try it out' on one of his young bulls. I loved it because it was like bronc riding but way better because there was a greater chance of getting hurt.
   The best way to describe it is like barn jumping. First you start jumping from sheds onto hay. Then you start jumping from the hay loft onto loose hay. Then you start jumping from the hay loft to the ground. Finally you are ready to jump from the roof of the barn and try to avoid hitting the hot wire and water troughs.
   I did rodeo until I was 24 when I had a bad injury. He was going good then he did a hairpin turn which I didnt expect and threw me and I hit the fence and broke my leg. As I was trying to scramble away he crushed my foot. I decided I better not risk getting hurt that bad again. Not only did I have a broken leg and a couple broken bones in my foot but I lost feeling to my right foot so it feels numb all the time. The wife was screaming, she thought I was gonna get killed. Then we had to have friends help around the farm because I couldnt do anything with a broken leg.
  
   Rodeo is the best and I would love to do it again but I think I am getting old and I have too much to loose if something bad did happen.
  
   I say go for it, there is nothing like the adrenaline rush you get. Just be careful. If you go to the school learn as much as you can, I had to learn everything the hard way.

• I've been a PRCA member for a long time. Calf Roping was my favorite event but I always got a kick out of Steer Wrestling. Bull Riding is exciting but is a young man's game. I'm from the Donny Gay era and I watched Ty Murray thru out his entire career.
  Also a tip of the Resistol to that good old boy Lane Frost.

• I say go for it too. I learned bullriding the hard knocks way like Mike. It was a great rush, and I would go back in a heartbeat if I could. I've heard good things about the Sankey school. Lane Frost also made at least one maybe two videos about it. If you can find them they're a good watch. Don't forget the pics too!

• sankey is a good one. i went to one put on by james pierce and david fournier. actually spoke to rob smets about his school but never made it. the rush is indescribable. pm me if you have any more questions.
