Been watching it on Fox News. I'm glad they did SOMETHING!I e-mailed my representatives and voiced my political opinions last week, not appropriate here. LOL
Typical DC politics -- this bail out plan includes tax breaks for companies which make wooden arrows for kid's bow & arrow sets (no, I'm not kidding) and tax breaks for companies doing 'wool' research... not exactly what one should expect in a piece of legislation addressing woes in the banking/financial industries. Throw in vote buying schemes for campaign contributors, and our elected representatives will vote for anything and leave the tax payers holding the bag. They should call this the 'Screw the Responsible Tax Payers Who Don't Make Foolish Financial Decisions Act.' The House plan that went down in flames was 100 some odd pages; this one passed by the Senate has 450 pages, and I'd be willing to bet not one of them has read it completely. We need term limits so that citizens actually serve the nation, make responsible decisions for the country, and then go back into the private sector. Our founding fathers never envisioned lifetime representatives and senators whose main concern is not doing what's best for the country, but doing whatever it takes to ensure their reelection. Ok, I'll shut up now.
