My parents own a condo in Seaside, OR, and I go there quite a bit to relax.

Charleston, SC

Beautiful beaches, fun city, great food.  it's good for families or couples or partying.  It has a huge college crowd.

I live in my favorite vacation spot, it is just a short drive to the Gallatin River and the Madison is just a little further, I am an hour from Yellowstone Park, I have Bridger Bowl and Big Sky within a half hour, I can see the Lee Metcalf Wilderness from my apartment.  I love it here, before I moved here I would visit 3-4 times a year.

We have a time share in Kihei, so we go there about once a year.

My other is Redding which is just south of the Oregon border.

Lake Tahoe is great for both the summer and the winter.

Two other great ones are :

St. Lucia - Sandals is great when you take your woman

Blair Lake - it's about 9,000 feet above sea level along the Continental Divide between Montana and Idaho.  It's where I hunt.

Blair Lake - it's about 9,000 feet above sea level along the Continental Divide between Montana and Idaho.  It's where I hunt.

Have either of you done any scuba diving on maui?  If you haven't you should give it a go, and some of the best sites that I have dived are around Kihei.   My avatar is of me on a dive boat as we were headed to molokini crater.

Outer Banks of North Carolina here. I happen to like Singer Island, Fla and agree with Nomad about Sarasota. Aruba is my fave Caribbean Island; however, St John is great too in addition to St Maarten.

So you have the white sand beaches, the Daiquiri Deck, Mc Curdy's, (Yeah, I saw Tommy Chong there) the Salty Dog, the Ringling Museum, and a sea of gray hair but you don't have grape vineyards as far as the eye can see, Candlestick Park, the Greek Theatre, the A's, the Giants, The Raiders, the Niners, the Warriors and a host of such popular venues as the Filmore, the War Memorial, the Cow Palace and the Colosseum or mountains.

But you do have the white sand beaches.

I have snorkled at Molokini but never did scuba there....we stay in Kihei also at a condo we rent from a guy in California...

I love going to Montana, it is the best. We have a little place in Troy and we manage to get over there a few times in the summer. There is no bathroom, just an out house, its 2 bedroom and has no power, just a couple spigots for water, its on about 2 acres with a few old fruit trees that my grand parents planted ages ago. Every time I go I want to stay but I always have to remember that I have a life at home and a bunch of critters to take care of, hay to cut, all that fun stuff. I have been looking at property in MT and ND, I will start another topic about that. Other than MT we have a cabin on Hayden lake that is only about 45 mins away. I love it when I manage to make it over to Russia, normally we stay in St. Petersburg and I love it there the people are so kind. I would love to go to Finland and some other countries one of these days.

Hey Mike, it sounds like you have a beautiful place there to "get away from it all"....I envy you because I like to do that sometimes also....just get away in the woods and  live in a cabin or camp for a week or so....the last time I did that was in the Adirondacks for a week a few years ago and it was wonderful and the trout fishing was fantastic....caught rainbows right and left....thanks for sharing that
