School is starting and summer is just about over....

Hello to all my Sly Bro's.  Just sitting here thinking about my kids going back to school in about a week.  School starts here August 12th, and I am ready for it.  Like most kids, the first day of school  is the end of their summer.  When I was in school, we always tried to make the most of our summer.  Got me thinking, as adults, what have you all done this summer?  Is there something that you wanted to do and have done it or wished you had more time to get it done.  Im talking here about vacations, home projects, really just about anything.

This Spring and summer, it was my goal to get my siding put on my house.  That job is completed.  I had a few other around the house projects I wanted to do but didnt get them done, like pouring new concrete on my back drive way.  I did though get my vacation to Florida in and we had a great time there.  We have done alot of swimming in our pool, which is good right now with our temperatures this week in the upper 90's. 

The Highlight of my summer was Last weekend up in Chicago!  All i can still say is WOW!

Well, so far for myself the summer has been relatively busy.  There's lots of overtime cause we're so short staffed and so my real vacations just started with Chicago last weekend.  I'm now in full vacation mode, and I am even staying on a 'normal' day routine here!  I've been taking the 10min drive to the beach every day and I have quite a lot more colour now.  I'm almost not transparent anymore!   I'm cracking a beer with my bacon and eggs every morning and just taking it easy doing absolutely nothing.  I DO have to head out soon though and change the shoes on my truck then head to town to pick up a friend for an afternoon of pool, bowling, mini-putt and beers on patios!

I am excited for the kids to get back in school. They go back in the last week of August here. The bad thing is is that my kids wont be in school for the first month. At the end of the month they miss 2 days for our fair then they go to school for a week and then its the big interstate fair for two weeks, we normally camp there. Then its a day home and state fair for dogs for the oldest, then my daughter comes a couple days later for cats then the whole family comes for chickens. Basically the kids go to school for a couple days this month and a week in September.

 There are many many things I wanted to do this summer but never have the time. I wanted to put new boards on the goat barn or at least paint it but havent done that yet, build a show bird shed, tear down the old barn, expand the swimming hole at the creek, make some repairs around the house, redo the milking parlor(new paint, new concrete that kind of thing). There are many things I havent done yet that I wanted to but there arent enough hours in the day.

 Things I did get accomplished are moving and getting settled in, got hay put up for the winter and made profit from the extra, got the plumbing fixed in the barns, spent time with the family, got pends ready for new critters, and had a great hatching season.

 The highlights of my summer were the fun times I had with family and friends.

I don't know if this counts because I don't have kids and I'm still in school, but whatever :-p

On the day of my last exam I took a sweet trip to Montreal and lived the high life for a weekend before coming back. Like a lot of students I didn't have a job right away so I decided to start my own website and try to make money that way. So far in 3 months I've had about 300,000 visitors and made a few hundred dollars. Not going to get me rich any time soon but hopefully the ad revenue will be enough to cover my beer money over the school year. 

I got a job as a Database Specialist by bending the truth at the interview and saying I had some MS Access experience. I was really nervous but it turns out the program is pretty easy and it's been a great success so far. I'm done in 3 weeks for school and I can't wait to get back.

My main goal for this summer was to have a great time since last summer was boring as hell. This summer has been fantastic and I'll be a little bit sad to see it go.

Cut it out guys. Reading the title of this thread is giving me that first day of school sick feeling in my stomach. Summer is not over.

It's not over until Labor Day.

Some counties here in GA started July 31.

Agree though, Summer isn't over until Labor Day.  Then you put your white pants up until Easter.

You know what it means to me when school starts back up?  It means more traffic!  I enjoy the summer months because there is less traffic on the roads.
