Have any of you noticed, as you get older, that your facial hair tends to grow in faster and thicker? I've fallen off the Mr. Clean wagon again -- gave it a good 37 day try this time, but I just wasn't digging it as much as I thought I would. In the past, it's always taken me a good 10 days to grow a decent beard -- about 6 to get past the real scraggly stage and a full 10 to fill in completely. This time I managed to grow the goat back -- completely -- in 5 days, and a couple of spots that have been traditionally slow to fill in completely grew as quickly as the rest of it (and no, it's not a full moon this week.
).
I know that a lot of guys can't grow decent beards until they're about 30, but I always thought that what you could grow at age 30 is pretty much what you get for the rest of your life. I'm surprised that it grew in so quickly this time -- not that I'm complaining. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Funny you are mentioning this. I have noticed that my beard grows in fairly completely in about 5 days too. I recently had a goatee and moustache and got lazy. Plus I really like the full beard and sly look anyway. So I ended up trimming down the goat. Then beard was almost the same length as a #1 setting that my beard trimmer gives when I trimmed down the goat. It usually did take about 10 days for me also. But my beard has been pretty thick and I started shaving at 13. But the only part of my facial hair that was sparse was the middle of my moustache. But that finally came in at about age 20. Now I am a hairy old beast, except those genes are making the noggin hair fall out! -

You guys with the beards.....I only wish I could grow one in 5 days, or 10, or more. When i was in my 20's I wore a full beard for over a year. Now I can't even grow a decent goat. So my experience is just he reverse. Now hair on the other areas (i.e. arms and back), well that's whole other story.

I'm with SLYinKC on this one. I've sported a full beard for a long time. I have pictures from my mid-thirties that shhow I had a much thicker beard then than now, so my facial hair is thinning.

I don't grow a goat for one reason........ I a lot of grey on the corners of my chin. I don't have a problem with the grey hair....it's just that my facial hair is very dark and then I have just two very white spots on the corners of the chin. Looks kinda freaky like something out of an old horror flick........

RazorX, it could be that your trip from Mr. Clean to Mr. Goat took place during the summer. Beard and head hair do grow at a more rapid rate during the warmer months. Maybe that explains why your goat filled in so quickly this time. ).

Mike have you ever given 'JFM' a try? My older bro has a few stray grays in his goat. He uses the beard and mustache gel product and it looks good.
The key is to select a color that is closest to your natural color as possible and then don't go beyond the 5 minute limit when it's on.

My beard has always been growing pretty strong, ever since it started to grow when I was 15. Today I have to shave myself every second day. This much beard I have grown in 2 and a half days and will shave this off tomorrow or this evening.
Think I would look a lot older or manlike if I grew beard and shaved it in some way.

Sounds nice to me -- but I'm sure you don't care.
Seriously, my partner is unhappy with his beard colors since the white in it is not symettric. Until it evens out, he's been using JFM and it works well for him.
Just be sure to use it sparingly. Nothing looks more bogus than a beard that's all uniformly one deep color! Just use enough to even things out yet still leave some of the natural variations.
This is also why older guys who color their hair (or wear bad toupees) look so bad... hair of all one color looks downright unnatural. -

I'm not sure I've noticed a difference. I certainly have a lot of grey appearing now. I had a full beard a few years ago and it ended up quite red (not that I'm criticising any form of gingerness, Jer), when the hair I had on my head was a dark brown.
