I wonder what the percentage of men who are bald by choice also have male pattern baldness?

I'm bald by choice because of male pattern baldness, and I have a feeling that's the case with most men who shave their head.

You down with BBC?
Yeah, you know me!

I agree totally with Lucky13MN's first post.  I could not have said it better.

I fought the MPB for years with the "help" of the hairpiece.  I can honestly say that I have felt better in the last 13 months since going sly than I did in the 23 years of wearing a piece.  It was a great rush of confidence for me to go sly.

There is a very successful businessman in our community that has worn a hairpiece forever.  He gets a new one about every 3 months.  He looks good in one.  He saw me the other day as I was walking to the courthouse and he drove by.  I noticed him looking at my head and I just know he was thinking he wanted to go sly.

However, I understand both sides and support him no matter what.

Its just hair for crying out loud. Its not like it is some disfigurement or disease.

I understand the whole "coping" with MPB, and how some feel robbed of their youth/looks/vanity (I went through it too) but to get all stinky because someone shaves their head by choice and not by circumstance is pretty weak.

Personally, I count my blessings... I have too many positives in my life to focus my attention on the few negatives...

Exactly -- losing hair is nothing -- the worst part of ageing is first the frailty and then the death part at the end.   :(

I had the opposite reaction last year when I wasn't sure if I was losing my hair or not.  Seeing guys who were bald by choice made me feel better!  I thought if they liked shaving it off despite having a full head of hair, I shouldn't let shaving it bother me either.  So I did it myself.  My hairline hasn't changed since, but I still shave it.

You are so right.  I was in one of Chicago's hippest neighborhoods Saturday night (Andersonville).  There were so many cool Sly guys there it was amazing.  If the young guys who post here who are having image issues could go to places like this and see other MPB or BBC guys who are Sly it would make doing the deed so much easier.

No offense to any who have MPB, mine is beginning to thin a bit on top, but come on already! It's just hair! Give me a break.

We're MEN. Why should we be so caught up in all this vanity crap? It's ok to take a bit of pride in being fit, etc., but hair? Really?

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but come on already! Be a man and get over it.
