Quite an interesting contrast in behavior.....
« on: June 27, 2008, 08:04:05 PM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it but i think it's an extremely important peice of 'advice' for all the would-be baldies (via mother nature).

As a preface, I'm 20 and have been losing my hair for 4 years, and i am not going to lie; it sucks.  It affects me probably 1/3 as much as it did back then, so i'm glad i've made progress.

The piece of advice i wanted to post is that i've been visiting various hairloss forums over the years and you simply CANNOT COMPARE THE MINDSET AND MENTALITY BETWEEN THOSE PEOPLE AND THE ONES HERE ON SLY.  People here are way more confident, friendly, SUPPORTIVE, outgoing and i'm sure the list goes on.  On the other hand, those places are chock-full of pessimism, vanity, criticality and self-loathing.  So i ask you, "noob member" would-be baldy, which would YOU rather be a part of?

Thanks sly.

Nice post !!!

Thanks for the props!!!

Gotta hand it to Tyler for having a vision for how he wanted this website to "behave" if you will.

I was personally fed up with online communities in general as they ALL seemed to dissolve into bickering and mouthy brats hiding behind their keyboards and cartoon avatars.

When I did a google search on self-tanning lotions I clicked a link that led me here....very special place....have actually forged genuine friendships here, I believe.

Welcome!

It's the Mods that keep this thing easy.  They don't put up with a whole lot of mess.  I enjoy being a part of it.

Nice to hear the positive feedback.

Barcafan, first of all, welcome to SBG!  This is an awesome community, a family really.  Awesome support and conversation on a variety of topics.  I looked at a couple of forums when I was considering going sly, but the vibe of this one convinced me to join, then within a few days, I was sly and haven't looked back - that was over a year ago!

Welcome Barcafan, and thanks for the props'. This is a great site and Tyler, the mods and the rest of us are as close to a true brotherhood as you get. You just have to be supportive of something like this.

Great post Barcafan and great to have that kind of thinking on board.  As Rob said, props go to Tyler for designing a forum that would be positive and instructive, rather than critical and demeaning.

Thanks for the positive feedback.  Really means alot to all of the brothers here to hear that we have a positive influence on others.  Sure there is going to be a spit spat here and there...but thats human.  The good thing about that is....it doesnt get strung out for a long period of time.  We are all adults here...I hope.  I have really formed some good friendships here.  So me and my Red and Whites want to thank you! LOL

Welcome to SBG barcafan! Thanks for the kudos. This IS the best forum I have ever encountered. It's a great group of people that has developed into an on-line family. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I can't wait to log on each morning to see what everyone is talking about, who's new and if Timmay has gotten his Red & Whites yet. :*))

Again welcome and we hope you stick around. O0

Welcome to the brotherhood!

FYI: Don't encourage the mods... they get all excited, drink way too much beer and then disappear for weeks!  :*))
