OK you all ready for this. Here in the heart of Daviess Co. in SW Indiana we have some good down home cookin going on here. We have tons of amish restaurant with buffets. Now let me say this....anyone can put Amish Buffet on their sign and slap some coffee filters on their waitresses heads and call them selves amish, but you dont get more amish than at Knepp's Cafe. Big ol juicey crispy fried chicken breast, homemade egg noodles, mashed potatoes ( yes I know they are real because they have lumps) with gravy, sweet potato casserole, fresh corn straight from the cob ( when in season) and the home made fluffy melt in your mouth butter milk biscuits and fresh from the oven warm home made bread with apple butter. Along with that you have to wash it all down with fresh brewed Iced Tea easy on th sugar, and for dessert. Get you a piece of their home made peanut butter pie and wash that down with a good ol cup of hot fresh brewed coffee. OK you all, its like midnight here and now I am hungry.

I have many favorite foods, a couple that I have heard are southern foods are the sweet potato fries, sweet tea, and tater tot casserolle. We have longhorn BBQ's here and they sell longhorn BBQ sauce by the gallon for about $10. We go through 3 gallons every 2 weeks, I put it on everything from fish to chicken to bread, I love it. Around here the only thing that might be considered regional is the lentil and apple chilie. They make normal chilie with lentils and add some baked apples, it tastes odd at first then its really good.

The problem with the food network is when they make something, It looks like a $50 plate of fancy stuff that is the size of a walnut
While it looks good, it is not satisfying

When I was in Milwaukee I was introduced to Cheese Curds - yum, yum!
Next time you get cheese curds, make some Poutine! get yourself a nice bed of fresh french fries, load on the curds, then smother it all in beef gravy... Mmmmmmmm! Now THAT's a heart stopper!
The next best thing when you can't get curds is to use grated Mozzarella, it's definitely not the same, but it's still good.

Jer! You're a man with great culinary tastes! I am from Seattle, not Canada, but I adore Poutine! It is truly heart attack in a bowl. YUM! Until recently it was pretty hard to find white cheddar cheese curds here. But now the largest supermarket here carries them!
But when I visit Vancouver, I try to hit New York Fries for some Poutine.
Since we are talking about Canada we better not forget Nanaimo Bars for dessert. Named after Nanaimo, BC, these tasty treats have a bottom crust of coconut, graham cracker crumbs and dark chocolate. The middle layer is a vanilla pudding, butter and powdered sugar mixture. The top layer is even more chocolate! YUM!

That's a universal thing for you coppers.
Try again, Jer!
Roger that, Red. I've eaten my share of Dunkin' Donuts.

Up here in da north woods of Wisconsin it is the FRIDAY NIGHT FISH FRY at any of a number of "supper clubs". These are all you can eat affairs with fries, cole slaw, and sometimes baked beans, and I like to wash it all down with Leinenkugel's Creamy Dark. If they don't have Leinie's a nice nut brown ale will suffice, as long as it's tapped.

Wow, I can't believe this....I forgot one of my favorites. Granted Hawaii is known for many more exotic food & drink, one thing I've always loved (especially after a hard night of tropical drinks) is the Loco Moco. Rice, egg, gravy and hamburger. Yeah, sounds gross but it's insanely tasty.
