Well, that's a tough one to put in one thread...you can find in almost all "newbie thinking about it" threads, once the guy shaved his head smooth most times his life completely changed with one big constant...

a new, more confident attitude!

It's hard to explain, but even having 1/8 of an inch of hair is not as empowering as having a completely hairfree head...

it's a cool, weird thing...

you'll see soon enough my friend!

It took away alot of stress related to worrying about hairloss and trying to cover it up.  The relief is one of the best parts.

Ben, you've reached that crucial point where you know you're going to shave your head -- it's just a matter of when, not if.  And when you get to that point, it's really best to just get it over with, and then you can stop torturing yourself over it.  Trust me, it will be a huge relief once it's done.  It's not a magic solution that will solve all of your problems, but it does allow you to close the door on the hair loss problem and move on.

When I was at this stage, I was just obsessed with the thought of shaving my head, and I didn't have any peace until I'd finally done it.  It's like ripping a bandage off a wound; the anticipation can be frightening, but if you just charge ahead and do it, it's over in a few minutes and then you realize it wasn't so bad after all.

I have yet to come across a single person who was thinning like you are who didn't feel a whole lot better after the shave.

I shave a full head of hair. When I first started to headshave, everyone wanted to know if I was balding. When I responded to that question with a resounding NO, their next question was then why the hell do you do it?
My response has been.....

I admit that going sans hair has made me even more cockey and self- assured than I was with hair.
There is a SLY confidence that comes with a shaved head. O:O

I was already with my now wife when I went Sly, but I have noticed a huge change in how people look at me.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

For me, it was a huge boost in my self-confidence.

And having a short buzz cut, even at 1/8-inch, was nothing like the new-found confidence I experienced once I had the barber razor shave it all the way down to the skin in front of a few waiting customers. That day I headshaved for the first time, I think I left the barbershop an inch or two taller than when I entered because I was walking so tall and proud.

Bottom line: With the encouragement of this forum and a couple of my SLY guardian angels, I finally CHOSE to go from being a balding guy to BEING a decidedly BALD guy.

thank you very much (to every single one of you) for your posts. sharing your thoughts and your expiriences.
it's maybe boring for you to say thank you all the time, but it is very honest !!

i fell so much better since i posted here for the first time 2 days ago!!!
that's just what i needed, to talk about. never had much chances before to do that.
it's good to learn that other have very simliar thoughts and worries and there is a way
to share that. i though i would do crazy by thinking a lot about the balding/bald stuff.

razorx descibed really good the point where i am, better than i could.  "closing the door"
is a real good point.

there is one thing for sure that i know nowadays. i decided that i will never spend all my money for
medication stuff, shampoo's, surgeries or hair pieces. that would make it a bigger deal that it should be and
i never would stop thinking. if you know what i mean.

i started to like the bald look more and more and the bald look is cool, as i can see here on the pictures. and slysurfer looks cool though he can have a full head of hair. keept it up sir.

it's like meeting the big bald family in there.
and i hope i'm getting a part of it.

so enough for now. i hope it's not overdone the stuff i wrote, but that how i feel atm.
at the bottomline i just wanna let u know, i apreachiate your posts  :)

we will see how things will go on.

Like slysurfer I'm bald by choice and so are a lot of guys here..yea some guys do think bald is cool enough to do it when they don't have to! O0

I'm glad you're feeling better. by the looks of your new avatar, you can totally shave off what is left...you'll look GREAT completely bald...

even better then Slysurfer! ;)

hmmm....

Did my life change after going bald? No not really... other than my grooming routines. Still had women take interest in me and after going bald maybe more actually.

Realizing I would not have hair again was a realization that I dealt with out the gate but now I cant even imagine having hair nor would I want it. I know I would be BBC if I had hair today.

On my walk to work from the train this morning, I spotted four other sly guys wearing suits -- so it's definitely in the mainstream now.  Saw one other sly guy on the train ride home -- sitting next to someone with an MPB buzz cut.  And it was the guy with the buzz who looked out of place.

When I was going through the thinning thing, I used to think it would take a tremendous amount of guts to get a buzz cut that short.  Now when I see someone with a buzzed fringe, I want to ask them why they don't just shave it all off.

Ben, I also want to point out that you're almost there, anyway.  Your hair is pretty short.  Just go for it -- it won't take more than 2 or 3 days to grow back if you don't like it (but you will like it).  I'll bet most people won't even notice -- or if they do, they won't say anything.  You owe it to yourself to try.

I would really hate to go back to having hair.  And I'm saying this as somebody who didn't want to be bald in the first place.  I knew I could live with being bald because I didn't have any choice, but if anybody had ever told me that I would ever like it, I would have thought they were crazy.
