I like texting.  Probably send 3-4 per day.  I'd rather get a text message than a long drawn out phone call!

I'm with you all the way on this Rocko.   O0  I love being able to punch a few buttons to let someone what's up instead of getting into a long phone call.  I can also see where Paul and Schro are coming from.  Don't get me wrong guys.  I think the younger generation of today does need to communicate properly.  Not to mention, do a lot of other things better too.  But me personally, I don't see much harm in it except for the crazies that do it while they're driving.  I mean, I was brought up to speak to people and to communicate in a "proper" way.  I can talk to anybody about anything at anytime.  But at the same time I can enjoy texting someone when I don't feel like getting into a long, never ending conversation.  Or if I'm in a place where I can't be talking on the phone and I need to let someone know something.  In that certain situation texting can be very helpful.  Especially with me and wife's situation that I explained earlier.  IDK  JMO bros.  ;)

my brother and i text quick messages back and forth.  Simple things.  If it seems to be getting deep we call.  Do that with most of the family.  I prefer to just meet up with people.  If you want to talk a lot it is always best face to face.  The telephone is not very personal either.  What ever happened to hanging out????

See this is the point I was trying to make.  My younger brother and I will text quick messages just to let the other know we're doing good and what not.  But if we really need to talk we call each other, or as NAVRN said, we'll hang out for a day.  Same with any of my family.  My wife and I get together with her mom and mine at least once a week.  I was just trying to say that texting is a quick way to go when you don't have much time on your hands.

NEVER text...and don't like receiving them either.  Society is becoming too impersonal as it is.   If what the person has to say is important enough for me to know, then they should phone me or talk to me in person.

I'm 100% with Paul on this one. We're raising a generation with no interpersonal skills.

Exactly, Mike & Paul!  The 'younger' crowd is also losing the ability to write gramatically correct sentences with accurate spelling.  They also seem to be deemphasizing the importance of this in our 'lovely' government-run schools.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

I've never texted ... and never will!

Not entirely true. I text all the time and I always use proper spelling and punctuation. I HATE internet-speak. I cannot stand bad "internet etiquette," it just drives me insane, and the same rule applies to texting. Now that I think about it, almost everyone I text with texts with (at least) proper spelling.

Yeah, I hear you dude.  I can understand people wanting to shorten things up but I usually punch every word out completely just for the fact I don't want to get use to doing things that way all the time.  Just me.
