G'Day fellow SBG's... just wondering how long your razors last before you have to change them for a new one? I've been shaving once a day for 10 days now, and I'm almost up to my third Mach3 razor... how long do they last?? I thought 1 razor might last longer than a week...?
I also bought a headblade (with the 2 blades) from the shaver shop and had a crack. Hmmmmm... not a whole lot different to the Mach3. I admittedly have only used it twice, but both times I have gone back to the Mach3 razor to get it nice n sly.
Cheers Brah's

I am a Headblade triples user and get 12-14 days out of one blade. I think that is mostly due to the advice of one of the members to do a final rinse of the blade in alcohol and then dry it thoroughly. At this time of year in the midwest I just lay the blades on the open heating vents to get them good and dry.

Hey Paul... I just found one of your older topics on 'double shaving'...(for anyone who does not know, this is where you shave your dome, then shave again straight away for an ultra smooth bald head)!!!!
Great advice. I have actually been doing that the last couple of days and getting the best results so far... ultra sly. It takes a little longer but well worth it... it does stay balder longer too. May be that's why my razors are running out a little quicker?

Don't know about that cam, I still double shave and with using the alcohol afterwards on the blades am getting the longer life out of them. Great to hear that it works in keeping ya smooth longer though. Sweet!!

Shave, rinse blades, towel dry, pour cap full of alcohol over blades. I've been doing this since November 19. Didn't change blades until December 8, then again December 24.
I'm using generic Atra Plus on the Headblade, followed up with the Fusion over the hard to get spots and then on my face.

I found the same thing. If you dry your blades after using it will really extend their life. I hear that alcohol helps too.

What type of DE blades do you use Mog? I use Personnna right now but I have tried lots of others. Personna's seem to be really gentle and feel good

Nick:
Personna's here.. The price is right and even though they're the only ones I've tried, they work well enough that I have stocked up on them.. The walmart cashier looked at me suspiciously when I checked out 10 boxes of them

I have a tendency to hoard consumables...

Great choice bro! I have tried Merkur, Derby. Feather, Gillette, Personna, Dorco DE blades. I really think the Personna's are the best feeling. They arent as aggressive or as sharp as the others but they are easier on the skin. I'll have to take a picture of my set up and post it. I have lots of creams and soaps too like Truemper, Taylor's, Proraso, Col Conk.

hi nick912-i am really interested in DE shaving and even have purchased a merkur adjustable razor.i am use-sing merkur razor blades and have to say it is the best shave i have had but in certain parts of my face i just cant get it as smooth as other parts of my face. the more i try it just leaves me with razor burns. do you think it is the blades.? i am useing head slick shaving cream. also do you have to make a mental note of which side of the blade you use? i normally use a mach3 and don't see me going back unless i cant master this DE shaving. i have watched the videos and i don't have a coarse beard so i am hoping it is the blades. any advice is appreciated as how you master this thing thanks
