My brother will be cooking two of them.  One in regular oil and one in peanut oil.  My daughter Annie is allergic to peanuts so he takes that into consideration.  But have you seen the price on a gallon of peanut oil?  I never have purchased it before cause I dont have the fryer...but at walmart the other day it was 34.99 per gallon...i was like damn....you can walk over to the frozen dept. and pick up your turkey for like 12 bucks and that makes for an expensive turkey.  But....you cant beat the taste of deep fried turkey..much more juicier...and when you season it with cajun spices...oh damn...you southerns will know what im talkin about .

Tim, peanut oil will last a loong time.  It doesn't go rancid like veggie oil does.  Mine lasts well over a year if I seal it up so dirt doesn't get into it.

Unfortunately it looks like we're having roasted turkey this year. >:(
A final decision will be made early next week. If there's a temp spikes on T-day, we'll smoke it.
Never had fried turkey. The frying process must seal in all the juices.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it.  ::)
My wife said if the bird goes in the oven, I'm the one that's gonna do the basting. Damn. I'm hoping for warmer weather.
Send some of that summer over here, JDog!  O:O

fried is good, baked is good, but have you ever tried DRUNK CHICKEN? (and this is not a dating thread timmj. >:D )

my step brother has a keg that is made into a little smoker. 13-14 pound turkey at 275 for about four hours. you have to cook the bird while it is standing over a beer (16 oz.) it gets so damn moist and the flavor is incredible.

Baked turkey here.  Upside down so the juices permeate the white meat.  MMMMMMMM good.

Things have evidently changed quite a bit since I left the USA in 2003. Drunk and Fried Turkey? :-\

I might have to get a 30Gallon fryer and try a whole chicken first. Great Success!

Or you could use a pot and a cornish hen to practice!
