I think parents just need something to pick at.
First I got, "when are you gonna cut your hair?"
and now, "are you gonna grow it out?"
Maybe they just like teasing us.
Yeah; I had shoulder length hair in the '70s; and my dad and me had some real knock down drag outs about it (my mom didn't like it either). so it was a real trip when my dad said to me (a few yrs ago; when I had buzz cuts ) ; ' hmm ... your hair's awefully short .... " ..... it was like; "who kidnapped my dad and replaced him with an alien double ?!?! )

I can relate to this. When I had real long hair not so long ago, my mother always told me to get a "men's haircut", whatever that means... now when I'm losing my hair at a rapid speed she insists me to grow it long again. I'm like, what the hell, I'm losing it now and I can't grow it long anymore (thanks to your genes).
BTW JohnMont, it's really hard to try and imagine you with long hair

I too am a newly sly guy (Day 3 of at least 3 weeks). I did a heart walk head shaving fund raiser (for my son) and love the look and the reactions. They have been generally very favorable.

Welcome BalDoug, that's great to hear!, and what a good cause to start you off on being smooth and sly!

Hope you keep the head shaved and smooth. If you haven't yet, post up in the introduction section so we can give you a proper greeting.

I keep my head shaved for about 10 month now and I really like it. Most people at work think it looks great and that I wouldn't be the same with hair.
I love the smooth feeling - shaved for some month a couple of years ago and decided to be bal by choice from now on and won't let my hair grow back. I am 29 and have been at my parents home last week - my mom is really afraid and we had a couple discussions if I couldn't let it grow again. "You looked so much better."
I don't think the same and I feel much better being bald.
I agree with Tyler - maybe especially remember how we looked as kids or teenager. But the important thing is that we feel good being bald.
In addition to that - I git a new passport. Now with a bald head! I like it! It is really something different when you have a first "official" paper with you being bald.

Out, you got to do what makes you happy, because parents are never happy. When I had VERY long hair my mom allways said I needed to cut it and when I started buzzing it she was shocked and freaked out now that I'm sly I can't wait to see her reaction, I don't care what it is because I love it but its goin to be funny one way or the other.

Hey guys,
It's been a while since I checked in. I'm still here and still sly (most of the time). My parents still hate it, although mum rubs my head now when I'm over there. I was over there tonight infact, I'd let my hair grow slightly and my mum said "growing your hair back are we?"
I'm used to the whole shaving thing, I find it a relaxing part of my day/week.
I'm still working on the parents. Most of my friends haven't said anything lately which is nice. I've had some at work say "I can't imagine you with hair any more"
I've let my goatee grow out more makes it look fuller and redder. I'm also going to the gym as I think i need to buff up a little.
Keep up the sly look guys.

I have been fortunate that my wife and other family members like my new look a lot.It might also be due to my moustache as it takes a lot of the focus away from my bald head

Yes,hang in there.Time will change it.A few months from now they will forget what you looked like with hair!
