A Message To Get Across To Any Young People You Know
« on: August 29, 2007, 08:44:04 PM »
Last year, a friend's son was in a bad motorcycle accident.  Alcohol, speed, and carelessness (no helmet) were involved.  He went from being a college to sophomore to a blind individual functioning permanently on a Pre-K level.  Friday night, his best friend who has hung by him, was killed in an auto accident.  Alcohol, speeding and no seat belt were involved.  EMT's found him brain-dead at the scene; the same diagnosis was made at the local hospital.  He was airlifted to a regional trauma center and died Sunday afternoon.  A friend with him put on a seat belt seconds earlier (when he realized his friend was too intoxicated to be driving).  He came away with a fractured ankle.

Try and get the message across to any young people you know that:
1.  Drugs, Drinking and Driving (alone and in any combination) kills
2.  If they don't kill you, they can destroy you for life
3.  Seat belts save lives
4.  Don't ride with an intoxicated driver

pruitt.....SORRY...2 hear 'bout your friend's son... yeah... i actually do this as much as i can.  i try 2 send the message out.  i took care of a young military man (not even 21 yet) who rode a motorcycle with no helmet & got into an accident & is basically functioning at a brain level of a toddler.  man...what a shame... i think 'bout those patients OFTEN.... & THANK GOD 4 keeping me safe.  anyways... if only everyone would follow those 4 steps... it would immensely decrease these accidents.

Great message Pruitt!
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Great message bro.  I try to reinforce this to my younger sister all the time who is now 19.  I also try and stay on my younger brother about it too who is almost 16 and will be driving soon.  It is just too bad that when you are at that young age you think you are invincible and do not really care about what older people are telling you.  I was the same way, and not all that long ago either.  I had a few close calls.  One that finally woke me up.

Sorry to hear about your friends child.

Great message... I'm constantly telling these things to my younger brothers and cousins who don't seem to comprehend the dangers these 4 things can lead to.

My cousin suffered the same fate, sort of, his IQ hasn't changed any, but physically he's like a 90 year old man with advanced parkinsons disease. He's only about 35. Wrapped his Camaro around a telephone poll and spent 2 months in a coma. I drank and did some drugs back in school, but I made sure I was staying at where ever I was before I consumed.
