Last year, a friend's son was in a bad motorcycle accident. Alcohol, speed, and carelessness (no helmet) were involved. He went from being a college to sophomore to a blind individual functioning permanently on a Pre-K level. Friday night, his best friend who has hung by him, was killed in an auto accident. Alcohol, speeding and no seat belt were involved. EMT's found him brain-dead at the scene; the same diagnosis was made at the local hospital. He was airlifted to a regional trauma center and died Sunday afternoon. A friend with him put on a seat belt seconds earlier (when he realized his friend was too intoxicated to be driving). He came away with a fractured ankle.
Try and get the message across to any young people you know that:
1. Drugs, Drinking and Driving (alone and in any combination) kills
2. If they don't kill you, they can destroy you for life
3. Seat belts save lives
4. Don't ride with an intoxicated driver
