And I'll bet NONE of them were Sly were they?

All they can imagine is their own fears.  Fears of rejection because they are slaves to doing what others expect them to do!

Individuality isn't very popular amongst such folk!   O:O  Thus saith the Sarge!   :*))

It's also only been a month, so maybe after a year or so people will get used to it and quit yammering about it every time they see me.   :x!!

It may just take about that long.  It will be 10 months sly for me this weekend and this week was the first time my family actually made a positive, joking reference to my sly appearance.   Amazing, it takes no more than 30 days for most of us to love being sly, takes friends and family months.  Go figure

I can relate to having that kind of pressure.  When I first shaved it off, my deceased dad said, "Marshall, it looks like hell."  My stepmom didn't like it either, although she no longer mentions it.  Also at my 40th birthday dinner, when I had grown my hair back for a time, my best friend now ex-wife said I looked much better with hair and my stepmom was clearly happy.  The last comment took the cake, and that was when a controlling female friend from a old church said that I need to honor my stepmom by growing my hair back since she is almost 90.  She thought that since the Bible says to honor your parents, that I needed to grow my hair back.  I thought that honoring your parents meant to treat them with love and respect.  I didn't think that went as far as hairstyles.  Taken to the illogical conclusion, if my folks didn't like my car, home or cat, does that mean I have to get rid of them!  Sorry for the tangent!

O0 Paul has it right. Honor your integrity, not others' doubtful aesthetics. As Razorx has often commented, most men look better bald. Bald=free, manly, honest. Professor Melon

Taken to the illogical conclusion, if my folks didn't like my car, home or cat, does that mean I have to get rid of them!

Marshall, you are exactly right.  You give in to somebody for no rational reason, and that person(s) will then expect you to do the same thing again somewhere down the road on another issue... and on and on -- gathering power and sucking it from you.  The same can happen when we give up some power to the government, a little here, a little there until we reach a point where we no longer have freedom or liberty.  It starts at home (the individual), and you have to take a stand.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Not a tangent as far as I'm concerned, Marsh; just some very pertinent comments.  It's amazing how some people feel they have to impose their own ... what's the right word? ... taste; values, aesthetics;  because they don't think you are up to their standards.  Talk about a convoluted argument !  You are right about its "illogical conclusions." Glad you could see the falacy of it, and of course you realize this person's opinion doesn't matter .... What I find with these situations, is that it is just mind-boggolling (Sp??? ) ... that people even come up with such stuff.

X, I had the same reaction from my family. Both my parents said that it was "Too Short!". I think it was a pretty rich comment coming from my dad who is bald himself.

On the other hand, all my family said that i looked exactly like my father with my head shaved and goatee trimmed.  My brother said that he loves it and wants me to keep it. I want to keep it too.
