Had three family members try to talk me out of slyness over the weekend...

Man ... I was sitting at the dinner table at my in-laws house on Saturday and my Father-in-law, Mother-in-law and Brother-in-law all bring up the topic of how much better I would look if I grew back my hair. Now this was not the first time they have seen it. I think the first time was a novelty, and they thought I was going to grow it back, and now it is sinking in that this is a permanent change. Anyway, I felt like I was at a hair intervention. Got a about 10-15 minutes of constant nagging at one sitting.
I say F%^$ them ... I like it shaved and that's the way it is staying

And before anyone asks ... no I was not wearing the Hanibal Lector mask at the time ...
Just had to vent to the sly brotherhood...

Going with the shaved head is a radical change, especially if you are BBC (bald by choice). So, people's reaction to it can be pretty polarizing. I know I had a lot of people really like it, and a few did not. Unfortunately, my wife was one that disliked it the most. A compromise to a #1 setting buzz cut is what I agreed to with the caveat that if my bad scalp condition returned in the winter, I'd shave it off again.
Glad you stayed with your convictions, X. Who knows....once your family sees your slyness isn't a "fad" or short time trial run, they may come to like it. Time will tell.
Stay cool.

My mom doesn't like it, she's touched my head once and was grossed out however, she's never once tried to talk me out of it. She loves me for me and cause I bully her around (she's 4'10" and 130lbs). She does love it when I leave it grow for a day or two though.
at frist my girlfriend loved it now she's bored with it but i ignore her.
stay strong

X, I've had similar reactions from friends and family but once they see you are serious about your BBC decision, I think they will come around.
Shine on bro.

Good for you X, for standing by your decision to be yourself. A great many of us have had reactions from family and/or friends that weren't always positive. Like JDog said they generally come around though or at least it becomes a non-issue. Hang in there.

Who cares what the in-laws think? I can see caring about what your own family thinks, but as far as I'm concerned, the in-laws opinion would count for squat. That's not to say that listening to them isn't annoying ....
Hang in there.

I guess I am lucky. I've never had anyone try to talk me out of it.

I say as long as it's not your in-laws daughter trying to convince you to grow it back, you have nothing to worry about. At least you don't have to see them everyday. (do ya???)

Like the others said X, as long as you are happy then who cares? Good for you for not caving in. You know, next time maybe you should wear the mask? I bet that will keep 'em quiet.

X, hang in there, man. Like everyone has said, it's your head and your choice to do what you like and are comfortable with.
If we all listened to what everyone else told us to do or what society (hollywood?) dictates, then I guarantee there would not be anywhere near as many sly guys on this site.

Way to stay strong X! Next time they give you crap, just tell them you'll start wearing the mask that you have in the avatar.

Thanks guys ... I agree with all the comments.

Yeah, I only see them about once a month. I don't think my family likes it either, nor do my friends really ... but oh well. My wife likes it (though she does add she likes me more with a little hair), but she is very good about it and my new style doesn't bother her at all. She never gives me negative comments or grief about it.
I'm at the point where I just am going to ignore what people think and they can either get used to it or not. I like it (addicted is more apt really) and that's that.
It's also only been a month, so maybe after a year or so people will get used to it and quit yammering about it every time they see me.

!
Just thought I would post this and vent.

Vent away; that's what we're here for.
