New Guy Here
« on: April 09, 2016, 01:55:17 PM »
Been buzzing my hair on and off for several years but recently I have been cutting it very close. I will probably shave it at some point but not right now. I have been using a Walh 9916 C trimmer to get it as close as it is in my profile pic. I am pretty happy with the results but I was wondering if there is another trimmer other than balding clippers to get it a little closer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome, Chaps!

I'm not an everyday blade shaver, but when I go for more than a couple of days without shaving and limited on time, I like to use the Wahl Foil Shaver Shaper. They cut pretty close like 00000 and when I wet shave, I stay pretty smooth for about 8 hours. Also, check out foil shavers such as Braun, Norelco or Remington. Good luck!

We use the Andis professional foil shave in my barber school.  They work very well for shaving heads and are not very expensive

Hi Chaps:  Welcome to the sly fraternity.  Glad that you joined us.  I usually head shave with a DE or SE razor.  On the very rare occasions where I do not use a DE or SE razor, I will use my Andis Foil Shaver.  I got mine at Amazon.  You can get it for under $54 with free shipping if you are a Prime member.

You can also do a YouTube search on the Andis Foil Shaver.  The one pictured in the Amazon site.  There are several barbers and users who love it.  Keep us posted on your choice and again, welcome to the sly fraternity.

The difference between a very close buzz and a shaved head is primarily in the feel.  The head blade is a nice option. You will likely really enjoy the feel of a smooth head. So when you are ready to go that .1 mm shorter, consider the head blade.
