Ha....I've been called: shiny, baldy, "calbito", kojak, "ese", "damn you look like a mexican", edward norton from american history x (3 or 4 times! haha), and "when am I gonna get a swatstika or however you spell it.  However I've also been told numerous times that I got a good head for it, that I look better, that I look cute, the "it don't look bad", and I had one sexy chick tell me I got a perfect, little round, head (i'm blushing still).  The good comes with the bad.  All that matters is that I feel better.

I haven't been insulted yet, but I'm sure that day is coming. That is, if you don't count the idiots on "another forum" that I recently posted about here. But those don't count.

 O0Dear Razor: We're just back from vacation. August is the only time full-time academics can travel. Got right on the SBG site and your boss's indivious comparison was the first thread I felt I had to respond to. NO!--you in no way resemble the guy in the photo. Your boss must have very bad vision even to make such a comparison. To wit, your eyes, face shape, coloration, goat shape,  skin tone, age,  and expression are all dissimilar. More troubling, what sort of attitude prompted your boss to tell you such a thing, even if he felt there was objestively some resemblance? As to weight, since I've noticed since last November and am sensitive about this issue, it seems to me you're leaner than 10 months ago. Just be thick-skinned and let it pass. But, if some comic retaliation comes your way, grab it. Missed the forum while we were travelling. Wound on head is disappearing; can shave close without difficulty. As per doctor's orders, keep panama hat on  outdoors to avoid scarring but go blissfully bareheaded when the sun goes down. First summer bald has proved entirely positive. To keep absolutely slick, sometimes shave in the early morning and then again in the late afternoon. No  nostalgia for hair whatsoever. Glad to be back but dread resumption of the semester; there are barely two weeks between the end of summer school and fall term. All best, Professor Melon

I might consider doing that if I had darker hair, but with my coloring, it really doesn't work.  If you're not really close up, you can barely see it.  Shadows  and lighting do strange things and it looks really scruffy from a distance.   Today was the five day mark, so I should be past the really sloppy stage.  It will take a few more days to fill out and for the darker hairs to come in along with the blond ones that are already in place.

Professor, Welcome back!
Glad to hear your head is healing up fine.
It seems I am also waging a war on what I call the "3 o'clock velcro".
I have taken to scraping the dome around this time with just water and a Schick extreme 3 disposable to rid the noggin of a sandpaper like feel.
I don't know if you've caught up yet, but I will be coming up on my first month sly on Sept. 2nd, and I am loving it, no going back.
I agree with you fully on the loss of nostalgia for hair.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your "slick" summer and thanks again for your intelligent and inspiring posts!

You have to remember that a lot of these guys would still be making fun of those of you with MPB, if you didn't have a shaved head, and you left it natural. Some people are just dicks.

Remember though, alot of these people are making fun simply because they lack their own self-confidence. Many are also immature and really don't think that deeply.
Some justify their behavior by taking an attitude of non-chalance, a sort of ignorance.
Age, of course comes into play with the equation, hence; "If I only knew then what I know now"
I think those of us who shave show the epitome of confidence, showing we are doing things our way and be damned with what anyone thinks.
