30 days straight
« on: May 11, 2014, 07:24:59 AM »
Hey guys!

I just wanted to announce that this is the 30th day straight I've shaved my head bald. It just so happens to be on a special day, which is Mothers Day.  I hope you all enjoy or can enjoy time with your mothers today. This is the first Mothers Day in which I won't get to tell my mother Happy Mothers Day since she has passed on.

By the way, I'm keeping the look and don't plan on ever going back.

My condolences on you losing your mom.  But congrats on achieving the 30 days.  Didn't fear you wouldn't reach it, given your enthusiastic posts, however!

Congratulations on 30 days. It has been almost 2 weeks for me. Sorry to hear about your mom. I am still very lucky I still have my mom and Dad but their health is not doing as well these days.

Roger
Have a great Day.

Roger

Congratulations on the 30 days, AJ!  ... I agree with tobler1 in saying that there was no doubt you would keep the  look.  ; )

-sorry about your Mom... this Mother's Day will be the most difficult of all for you, I'm sure.  I know you will reflect on her memory and get strength from that.   I think Mother's Day is good for allowing us to honor our Mom's while they are alive, and to reflect on their memory when they are no longer with us.

AJ, good job.

Stick with SBG and encourage other guys who are were you were.

My mom passed a number of years ago.  As time goes on, the good memories seem to linger.

Congratulations on your 30 days, which, as everyone else says, seemed like a no-brainer.  I enjoy your posts and think that you contribute a lot to this group.

So sorry to hear about your mother.  My mother is still alive, but not doing too well.  Her three children (plus my sister-in-law) visited her today, and it was one of her better days--she basically remembered us.  I know that this is a sad time for you, but my thoughts and prayers go with you.

tobler1: Thanks man! I remember you saying when I first shaved that you didn't think I needed the 30 days and you were certainly right.

k5mow: Thanks Roger! The remaining two weeks of the initial 30 day period will fly by. I'm sorry to hear about the health status of both your parents.  I've lost both and have experienced opposite ends of the spectrum as far as them dying. Dad went suddenly whereas Mom's health slowly deteriorated over several years.

Mike E.P. : I appreciate it Mike! I have the faith that she's in a much better place.  She suffered from COPD for a number of years. It's actually been a good day considering the circumstances. I spent a good part of the day with my paternal grandmother and it was nice.

slymyke: Thanks Myke! Yeah there was never a question whether I was going to stay bald or not.  It's so easy to maintain by just shaving in the shower every morning. Like I told the others above, it's actually been a good day and I'm thankful for that. She struggled to breathe for many years and I'm relieved more than anything that she is now at peace.

mrzed: Thank you so much sir! I will definitely stick around and continue posting on the forum to help guys going through the dilemma I once did.  I'm so relieved to not have to be concerned about my hair anymore.  I'm sure many my age have that experience in front of them whereas I have it behind me.  I'm going to echo you by saying there's nothing like having a smooth dome. Because of that, I look forward to getting up in the mornings now instead of dreading it. I'm sorry to hear of your mother too even though she's passed some time ago. There will never be anything like a mother's love and that is a good memory to have.

EarlBald: Thank you Earl! I enjoy being a part of the group.  I like to help others going through what I've been through myself and every word I say comes straight from the heart.  I'm sorry to hear about your mother! I'm glad she did remember you today. It sounds like to me she has either severe dementia or Alzheimer's and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone for the family's sake. I've said this to many people that Alzheimer's and COPD are the two worst progressive diseases out there.  It hurt me all those years seeing my mother struggle to just breathe and her mind was going at the same time. The oxygen wasn't getting to her brain like it should have been and ended up saying things that were atypical of the mother I knew years back.

AJ, congrats on the 30 days! You have been a welcome addition to the forum, and we enjoy your posts and participation. As for your mom, my sincere condolences, but I'm sure she's smiling down on you from above, saying "My son looks awesome ;D"...I'm sure your memories of her will help you through....I have great respect for you having lost both parents before 30 years of age, but I think you're handling it well. Thanks for the well wishes to our mothers, BTW.

Thank you so much Sir Harry for those kind words! I enjoy participating with gentlemen like yourself.  My mother looking down probably didn't like it at first but I'm sure she quickly came around. She's probably seen how happy and comfortable I am in my own skin and because of that, she would be happy too. It indeed wasn't easy to lose both parents in a span of less than four years and taking care of the surviving one already in poor health but I'm definitely a stronger person for it.
