I know this has been discussed here before but thought I'd share my impressions.
So I went sly about five months ago and the ATX was my tool of choice, mainly because I could buy it at Walgreens. It shaved close, but was always left a little stubble. I figured that's how it was. So on a whim I tried finishing with my Gillette Fusion (for face shaving) after the ATX and couldn't believe the smoothness. So for the last two or three months I've used the ATX for the first pass then finish with the fusion.
After reading up on other folks' experiences, I've tried different blades, adjusting my technique, adjusting the angle, etc. to get it close on the first pass. After reading many posts on this board I decided to order the Sport. Wow! It was as close as the Fusion on the first pass! This thing just cut my time in half.
Anyway, I appreciate everyone sharing on here. I am looking forward to trying new blades on this and may keep working with the ATX but I think the Sport will work best for me. Huge fan of Headblade so I am glad they have several models for us baldies!
Thanks for the update. I get the same thing with the ATX. I just go over it again with the ATX a time or two and usually get it pretty close.
I may have to get a sport and try it out.
I've tried both the sport and the ATX. The latter is OK, but is definitely a down grade from the sport. The sport is fantastic. The ATX is OK.
I'd wish that the head blade folks would continue promoting the sport. They seem to promote the ATX as an upgrade. I'd say its a downgrade.
This morning I made the classic mistake of not keeping the back of my head taut while shaving. Felt the blade catch and sliced the skin. Ouch! Went to work with a band aid on the back of my head like Marcellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction.
I feel the same way. I prefer the Sport over the ATX hands down. I do not feel the atx comes close to the smoothness you can get from the sport. I've given it many chances, but I cannot get the quick, smooth comfortable shave I easily get with a sport.
I do hope that HeadBlade will rethink keeping the sport and the double and triple blades that went with it more prominently in their marketing.
I suspect that some of the folks at Head Blade read this site, so hopefully they are catching the comments. Other's have said the same.
One nice thing, for now, they are offering discounted prices on the HB3 blades!!! even if they are only available online.
