Welcome bro, go for it, you'll definitely like it.  Like BB just said, I too have had little to no irritation since I switched to shaving in the shower.

As others have said check the posted routines and decide what works best for you. Briefly mine is- Shower shave- headblade with atra triple blades and headslick- ST. Ives apricot scrub immediately after the shave and then cold water rinse- then Bald Guyz moisture gel. No nicks, cuts or bumps!

A belated welcome mate!

The advice about layer of oil under the gel is great. Adds lubrication and does keep the blades lasting longer.

To me, The COLD WATER SOAK after a shave is paramount to getting an irritation free shave. I spent many months of getting painful razor burn and bumps but after the COLD WATER RINSE it all went away.
