hey guys, I am getting ever more close to being totallly sly ... I reallly am ... now have a .50 buzz on sides and #1 on the crown... VERY close, and at initial glance looks shaved. (I'd post a pic, but I promised not to post one again till I'm totally sly)  One thing i'm beginning to wonder; how hard is it to keep a smooth look; especially for the sides and back?  I'm quite thin on top/crown, but the sides/back are VERY thick.  How hard is it to keep it really clean?  How irritating to the skin is it?  I'm thinking that "my" look might be to go for a clipper shave, rather than using a razor and lather every day. (but I'd love to try razor shaving at least for a while.)   Not sure how smooth or rough a clipper shave might be. 

Any and all opinions/ insights etc. are welcome

have you looked at the MAJOR changes some of our newbie frineds have gone through...and YOU'RE worrried about it, even before going for it?

Shave your dome clean every other day, THAT will be easier than a clipper shave...

John  its like skydiving-in the end you gotta go do it to get the experience.  Run the razor up the middle of your forehead and there's no going back: you'll gonna be a cueball.  After you do it and get the experience, youll wonder why you waited

John,  my experience is that keeping it buzzed is harder than shaving.  Buzzed at .50 is like 2 days growth.  Go for it!!!

Here's the deal guys .... give me till the end of the month.  HONEST.   I've got some stuff to do places to go over the next two weeks where I'm to be honest; just too shy to show up sly.   But this gradual approach seems to be working; both for me and my wife.  Buzzing myself the other day; I took the .50 attachement way up close to the crown .... sides are practically shaved.  My wife isn't saying much, which to me is a sign she is accepting it, and other non-verbal signs     show she may actually be liking it (though she'll never admit it) .   anyway; that 's a MAJOR obstacle out of the way.  So, my sly friends, give me just a little more time; and TIMM.....  no thong >>> P L E E E E E E Z Z Z Z Z E E E E  .....! ! !

JOHN...dotn be mad when I say this....YOU ARE A PANSY!  Forget the places you got to go to...what you gonna do shave your head bald and hide out in your house for 2 days.  Actually what you are doing is saying you are embarassed to be a SLY BRO!  So what does that say to all of us who are?  Not liek you are going out for a sex change...come on John...I am still holding up to my word...you have about 23 hours left to get the job done.....you mentioned at the end of the month you had places to be at?  So the rest of the year you dont have to be anywhere??  John I am not trying to sound mean or cruel...but this has got to stop...its liek gettin into a ice cold pool..yes it is shocking at first but after a few minutes it makes you feel all warm and comfy.  I had a full head of hair with the starting signs of a receeding hair line. When I first shved mine bald...while doign it I was like wtf am i doing?  It was too late to turn back, I had already had the racing strip downt he middle of my head.  After about 10 minutes of shaving it off I stood in the mirror long enough to realize ..HEY I AM THE HOTTEST STUD ON THE BLOCK....SO FOR WHAT EVER REASON YOU ARE HOLDING BACK JOHN,.......ITS NOT GOING TO FLY HERE!  YOU JUST NEED TO GROW A COUPLE OF NUTS AND BE THE MAN YOU WERE MEANT TO BE!  GO SLY BRO"S!

John, don't worry about little things like the thickness of your hair.  Hell, I'm BBC with fairly thick hair.  Irritation from shaving can be reduced to the minimum if not totally eliminated by using decent products before and after the shave.  In particular using HeadSlick before reduces friction to zero.  I had some problems with post shave irriration but it disappears completely using the Bald Guyz Moisturizing gel.  Other guys use aloe based lotions.  Come on man...go for it...no matter where you go in life you are going so meet someone who hasn't seen you sly.  Guess what, if there are family, friends, or coworkers, the odds are enormously in your favor that they will find the sly you awesome.  If they are strangers...what do you really care, so long as YOU are happy.  The sooner you take the plunge the sooner you can get on with your life and avoid all of this anxiety.  Do it now...your wife as you say seems to like the changes and you know you have all of our support.

Not embarrassed.  A lot of my personal psychological issues have to do with a kind of TERROR of being the center of attention, esp. when issues of masculinity are concerned.  I've read posts in here from guys who have mulled over headshaving for one or two years.  So give me a little more time.  ... Like I'm saying ... till the end of the month.   It is going to give me great pleasure to show all you sly brothers pics taken after my first shave.  You've all given me a lot of support ( and 'tough love' --"ouch" to Andre and Timm ...)   and I would n't have gotten THIS far without you guys.  And since I've been taking so long, going sly may end up being as much as a 'non- event' with you guys as everyone says it is with the world at large.

look.... i don't want 2 sound like i'm bashing u but u need 2 quit crying wolf because we r SICK & tired of it.  well.... i'm off my soap box, now.  so.... quit crying and put that razor on that dome.

I wholeheartedly agree.  I tried clipper shaving -- for about 2 or 3 days -- and found that it is much easier to shave with the blade.

Chill, guys.  He'll do it when he's ready.  Let's not try to bully him into it. 

John, I totally understand how you feel -- been there, done that.  But you really have no idea how very close you are at .50.  You have time to shave it and still grow it back to where you are before your commitments.   It will only take about 24  to 36 hours to grow back.  So, if you want a sneak preview, now's the time to go for it.     

P.S.  I don't want to see photos of any member of this group in a thong, with the notable exceptions of MagmaBabe and Hot Cajun.
