Cable and Internet issues..... RANT please help if you can,

Hello bald brethren....
  First I would like to say.
I am normally not the negative type, however when push comes to shove,
 I am not one to just be rolled over it not stand/ speak for myself.
This will pertain to the members here in the states more than others.
However I'm open to all suggestions for I am about to go flywheel loose.

Wow....
Comcast cable company has been charging me each month for services I cancelled back in October.
Anyone else see a numbers game with them?
The bill statement says this amount,  then your quoted a different amount....
I was on the phone for 56 mins and transferred to 6 different agents.
Is this a ploy to agitate customers into hanging up without resolution?
 Anyone else have such issues with their Comcast services?
I would like to hear from you.

Also I am interested in a decent
Mobile  "hot spot" used just for Internet access.
Something I can use my laptop, and tablet with to surf the web,
And stream Netflix.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That is ok , they are all the same.  You can speak to them about Better Business act. but only talk with a manager, get name, date, time .   And stay cool .  If not getting anywhere.  Just say that you will talk to a attorney friend.

Well the "so called" balance is $204
Not a small price for Internet service I did not get.
But not the end of the world or enough to bankrupt me...
It's just the principal of it.
I did my part by calling and speaking with a tech to cancel my service
Back in October...
So it came as a surprise to get a bill yesterday for the above amount.

In this day there must be a mobile service I can get,
To link up my devices.
I mean damn if I'm gonna pay for it I might as well be able to take it with me on the move.

I am open to suggestions.

Have you got dates and times when you called them and who you spoke to ?  If you do then UT let them take you to small claims court !

I'd contact BBB....FWIW, many of my friends are now former Comcast customers because they said that the service sux ash. Obviously, I didn't need to tell you how bad they are.....BTW, I'm a DirecTV man, and I am very happy with my service.

The truth is...
  I just won't be using Comcast any longer.
However due to my location AT&T  home Internet is unavailable in my small area.
 Don't really care about tv cause with Internet access I have Netflix
However I need to find a way to get said Internet access with some type of mobile connection
Or a hot spot.
I have 4 devices that require access..
(Not all at the same time but still)
These are all wireless devices so I need help in finding something that will let me connect to the Internet.

In regards to getting your money back or not having to pay it, check with your local news station to see if they have a consumer advocacy team.  Many news stations have a team where you can write them about an injustice you're dealing with in regards to a business and they will deal with that business on your behalf - basically threatening to do a news story on them if they don't write off the charge or refund money, etc.

As for the internet, both AT&T and Verizon have "mi-fi" devices that you can buy and will allow you to have internet where there is 3G, 4G, and LTE service available.  The one advantage to AT&T is that if you have a plan with them you also get free access to all of their wifi hotspots around the country for free.  This can save you money in regards to the amount of money you have to spend on data.

BEWARE!  If you're going to watch Netflix over cellular internet, remember that each 1 hour of video is about 1 GB of data.  So, if you get a 10 GB plan, you can only watch about 7 hours of video a month assuming you don't download and stream other stuff like music, YouTube, etc.

Here is Australia when we get ripped-off by the internet providers or the telephone company [and boy do we] we complain to the Telecommunications Ombudsman who deals with the companies on behalf of the consumers. The ombudsman charges a fair bit to resolve the issue sometimes [can be in the hundreds] but the good thing is that the charge is paid by the telephone/internet provider and the longer they argue and muck around the more it costs them. I've used them a few times always with positive results.

Are you saying that their is no wired cable or fibre internet connection in your area or only no AT&T? Are there perhaps other wired providers?

As Tyler intimates watching a video streaming service over a cell-network could be very expensive -- in Australia it would be financially devastating.

I don't know what the pricing is like in the US but I would think that a cheaper alternative to internet access than using the cell-network would likely be broadband satellite. Note though that the signal latency would be lengthly due to the distance that the signal has to travel and this may not be good enough for some things like video conferencing.
