I love coffee, but never got around to reading this.
I finally read through this thread....I'll ignore the post made by a member that should have him banned for failure to follow rules as he has been warned multiple times (just goes to show how tolerant us mods are ... the member knows what he did....I put it in bold for his convenience because he loves bold text) and just give my thoughts on coffee.

Chicory - Like Saint said, Chicory adds a "unique" taste to it. Some love it, some hate it. I love it. When in NOLA, I took in Cafe Du Monde and really enjoyed it. It was a must, since CduM is mentioned in Jimmy Buffett's "The Wino and I Know" (my all time favorite JB song, check it out on You Tube).
Schro's Regular routine - I'll be honest, I'm a little bit of a coffee snob. That being said, I "settle" on buying whole beans from the San Francisco Coffee Company (usually French Roast). I grind what I need the night before (store the rest in the freezer), and program the coffee pot before I go to bed. I love having the house smell like coffee in the morning!! One thing I do is deliver The Lovely Mrs. Schro her first cup o' joe in bed as a wake up call whenever I'm not traveling (I'm an early riser, she's not). Both of us are usually good for a 2 or 3 cups in the morning.

When I'm traveling, I try to avoid Starbucks. It has nothing to do with political reasons, I just don't think their coffee is all that good. When I'm in the Bay Area, I try and get Peet's. SBC is also good.

The Italian's also enjoy there coffee.  LOL , Who ever started it , boy did it catch on.  I for one am sure glad of it .  

Being Italian I know what we are speaking about: actually coffe was born in Arabia and Yemen.
When the Ottoman Turkish conquered Arabia they also imported the use of making andrinking coffee in their capital Costantinopoli, the present Istanbul.
From Costantinopoli (Istanbul) it was imported in Venezia I think around 1600. From there then in Europe and in the rest of the world. In Venice is still open the first "caffé" of Europe, Caffé Florian, since 1615.

Italian coffe, and Turkish coffee from which it derivates, are quite different from what you call coffe in America: here we use to have it in small cups, with or without milk, and we use to have it mostly in the morning and the bar (coffee bar) and after lunch and dinner. Some people have many more coffees during the day. I have only two, one in the morning and the other after lunch (otherwise I can't sleep at night). I have them at my usual bar that uses Illy brand coffe, the best in my opinion.

When made at home people uses the "moka", the coffee pot somebody posted the pic before. At the bar they use special machines.
Lately are being available small machines to make coffe like at the bar at home, like Nespresso, with the coffe made in alluminium capsules, and I find that they make a very good coffe too.

I'm a bit of a coffee snob, I love freshly ground beans, and a really strong French or Italian brew (New Zealand knows their coffee). As I mentioned before, my mother in law get us free beans so the coffee flows freely.

But no matter how snobbish I can get about it, I will always have a soft spot for the filter coffee they serve at diners. Hot, strong and served in a chipped stoneware mug... I love it!

Vegemite isn't bad if I can't get Marmite, but Vegemite is not as strong!

That's why I prefer Marmite - stronger taste. Had some on toast for breakfast this morning. Can still taste it in my beard.

Marmite - I worked with a British woman in Nevis. She invited me to breakfast at her place one morning and served me, Marmite. I knew then why she didn't have a boyfriend. Indeed it does take an acquired taste. Y'all enjoy it!

Love my coffee.  I enjoy good roasted and perked.  Like it mainly in the am but any other time also.  Any other SLY members enjoy their coffee, or tea for that matter?

Never drank much before, but since 4 months or so I started drinking 1 cup of freshly ground and french pressed hot black gold in the morning and I like it.
No sugar and milk for me, ruins the taste imo.

If I feel like having sweet stuff I go for hot chocolate or cream and cookie protein shake.

love my java, my doc doesn't like me drinking so much of it  it comes in the blood of the family .  Make a pot and drink it all day helps all organs to work the way they should.  And people don't get stupid doing it.  I did notice Bailey's Irish Cream , or a nice brandy sipper .  And then light the tree, fire, lady, and hit the hay .  Works for me.

Gotta agree on this. My coffeepot is in the bathroom and completes brewing a few minutes before 6 -- the smell awakens me and the day begins! A simple pleasure.

Whoa ! $7.00 I am not a Starbucks fan ,  guess I have more at bowling alleys, truckstops , family restraunts .  Quit smoking , quit alot of things but coffee is not going to happen.
